Fruitland Park looking at new growth in addition to Villages’ 2,000 homes

Nearly 300 new homes, a 72-unit assisted living facility and a 156-unit apartment complex are all on the drawing board for Fruitland Park.

This is in addition to the more than 2,000 homes that the The Villages is looking to build in Fruitland Park.

The developments of Chelsea’s Run, Fruitland Estates and Deep Woods are likely to begin pulling permits for new homes in February, said Fruitland Park Community Development Director Charlie Rector.

The infrastructure for these homes is already in place, he said.

Meanwhile, an out-of-state company is looking at the possibility of locating 72-unit assisted living facility on Miller Street. That facility would include a high-end restaurant that would be open to the general public in addition to serving residents.

And a 156-unit apartment complex is being considered by another developer at a location on Spring Lake Road.
