In the last few weeks, my AT&T cell service has slowed to a crawl in the Pinellas area. It was always weak but is now unreliable much of the time. I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same degraded performance or if I might have problem with my device? It seems to be the worst in mid-afternoon.

I don't know about AT&T but I have Sprint and its not working in Sanibel We are only here for two weeks and all of my calls are being dropped on my new iPhone 5s!

Spriint worked okay on my Android when we were here in March and I thought it was the new phone. Maybe not?? I've been using my Mom's TracPhone and it works fine! Go figure!

I'm in South Fernandina (by Hillsborough Trail) and have no problems with my AT&T signal.

For the past few years complains about ATT&T have been ongoing. Sad

we have Verizon and my calls are very often dropped! I have told my son in California and my mom here in TV to call on the land line. It's frustrating....I am hoping there will be a new cell phone tower buillt south of 46A soon!

We live in Amelia and I have AT&T. We purchased a "Micro-Cell" from them about 3 years ago before we moved to TV and installed it in our home now. All you need is a router and it plugs right in. Works great, and no dropped calls. AT&T usually discounts it if you have complaints about dropping calls. It was worth every penny!

We live in Pinellas and the ATT signal is awful. We tested it before we bought and it was always 3 or 4 bars and now its two if you're lucky. We used to only have cell phones and now need a landline. Talked to the ATT store in LSL and they said its because of all the new builds, and they will build a new tower "someday". Thinking about getting a microcell...

Large corporations such as Verizon and AT&T don't seem to be able to react to the phenomenal growth of TV south of 466A. It's the nature of the beast.

What's a micro-cell?

We had poor AT&T service in our home in Hadley for the past several years. We purchased a Microcell also and now we have 4 bars all of the time. You may be able to receive a discount by calling AT&T and ask to speak to a supervisor and explain to them that you pay for phone service that you are not receiving. They do not charge us a service fee for using the Microcell. Like the other poster said, it's worth every penny.

Microcell won't work for me because I use the cell's hotspot for Internet connection. No DSL/Cable to the house to connect to the microcell. Also, I hope to avoid yet another communications vendor if possible. I did call AT&T with the issue and they are looking into local cell tower performance. If other AT&T customers contact them, it might push an upgrade along a little faster. My guess is that the resources are overtaxed and, as someone said earlier, they are behind growing with the usage in TV.

What's a micro-cell?

It is a mini tower in your home or office. It boosts the signal.

AT&T 3G MicroCell - Wireless Signal Booster - Wireless from AT&T (http://www.att.com/standalone/3gmicrocell/?fbid=w2iNTJcRlk0)

The area just north of 466A was just a bad until AT&T finally added the new tower in Wildwood. Before that, however, the POA was VERY helpful in working with AT&T to 1) keep on them to get towers added and 2) make an arrangement with them to let us purchase a MicroCell for $50. The MicroCell certainly solved the problem until the new tower provided adequate service in Pennecamp/Buttonwood/Tamarind Grove.

Might be worth contacting the POA to see if they still have their contact at AT&T.

I lived in Sanibel and had poor AT&T service. Now live in Collier and it's just as bad.

We spent a month in the Village of Pinellas in May/June and made numerous calls including many to Ohio with AT&T and had no problems whatsoever.

I agree with most of the replies here..... very poor to no coverage.

We live close to the Pinellas-Morse intersection and wish it was better.

Anyone willing to help me contact Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint? If we don't let them know we are having issues, they will never look into it.

Thanks,
Gordy

I'm in Fernandina (down by Hillsborough Trail) and consistently have OK signal - can talk and do data without problems.

ATT not great around cr 466 either. Sunday is the worst. I don't know if they shut down the tower on Sunday. Texts and calls get dropped .

Verizon also has horror stories.

I think the closer you are to a water tower.... the better. Nothing near the Colony Plaza area.

With AT&T the more noise you make the more results you get. AT&T has a free APP called mark the spot, so every time I had a dropped call, failed call, no coverage or data issue I'd hit the mark the spot APP. After a while I got a text from AT&T about buying one of their 3G Micro Cell's. I told them I wasn't going to purchase a devise to fix their problem. After more complaining and taking it higher and higher they finally gave me the micro cell, probably just to shut me up but it did work. So as the other posts said at least while I'm in my house I've got great coverage.

I had that app, too, but how do you mark the spot when you have no service there???
I too have limited AT&T service from my new Villa in Pinellas.

Mine was that bad also but I found one location with one bar in the E network and just kept using that to mark the spot.

ATT south of 466A is terrible if you are inside a home. It's almost as bad as their service when you try to call to get help.
