There are many rescue organizations in the area. The way most of them are structured is that they are a loose association of folks who often volunteer to "foster" dogs until a suitable "forever home" can be found. They usually will reimburse you for food and vet care while the dog is in your care. Check on Petfinder.com for local rescue groups. Here is one right here in The Villages.

I hope you hear from Debfrommaine. She works during the week, and on Saturday, she volunteers at All Creatures Sanctuary. I admire her greatly.

P.S. Pet Lovers Rescue is a great organization. Our Portuguese Water Dog came to live with us after four other homes. She was first rescued by Pet Lovers.
