View Full Version : Has Anyone Noticed How Expensive It Is To Ship Packages From TV?

Villages Pack 'N Ship seems to have a corner on the shipping market in TV with multiple locations. There are a couple more shippers at locations along 441/27, as well as Staples and Office Depot.

But in that all of the local shippers are franchises of UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc. they pretty much set their own prices for packing and shipping. I'm not aware that there are any "company-owned" shipping offices or terminals nearby.

I've noticed that the cost of shipping packages from The Villages is notably higher than I had been accustomed to "up north". Up there I could actually drop off at a UPS terminal or a FedEx office for the cheapest prices, or a UPS Store, which was somewhat more expensive. But none of the shipping options available to me up north were anywhere near as expensive as the package shippers here.

I always use one of the Post Offices..

TV Pack n Ship is expensive because they add on an addtional fee for their services.

They also charge over the face value on postage stamps.

I went to Publix and got stamps at face value.

I mentioned this to the Pack n Ship and she shrugged my comment off.

You can go online to the UPS website, print out your own label, and drop it off at the UPS owned store in the Albertson's Plaza. You can, when it's cheaper, go online to the USPS.gov website and print out your label and drop it in the mail. There is NO additional charge if you package the item yourself and stick the preprinted label on it and drop it off at the UPS store.

you can weight the package wrap it and call ups or go on line and schedule a pick up for a $5 fee plus shipping. you will know the total cost before they pick up the package .

The UPS Store is your best bet.
The other pack and ship stores have to add $ to the price.

It's incoming as well! My daughter in southern Illinois tried to ship a painting to me a month ago via UPS. When they asked for the zip code of destination, they said it was an extra $10.00 because of "added delivery fees" to this area.(??) They never did give an explanation why it's more to 32159 and 32162.
