The lifestyle in The Villages is pretty good. Nothing is perfect. What would make your life here even better?

A Costco!

I'll second that.

Just got back from Costco - retired folks can't afford spending $200 every time they need a box of Tide or a roll of TP.

A Washington Mutual Bank Branch would be nice.

home delivery service from grocery stores is a northern city service i miss her in tv. but with no snow and cold the need is certainly less of a priority.

Lif in TV would be much better if..............we could sell our house and move down there!! Sorry, I know it was a more serious question but I couldn't resist it. It just shows how desperate I am to get there. It'll happen I know but I want it NOW!

.....they had a racquetball or squash facility.

More and better golf practice facilities for chipping, pitching and putting with traps. For a golf community there is very few practice areas.

they had a gooood pizza.....a good thin crust and a good pan pizza. No, I don't want to go back into the business, but I clearly see the need.

A large fabric/craft store - e.g. JoAnnes, Michaels, etc.- I'm tired of going to Ocala. Also a Pollo Tropical Restaurant. It's the best "fast-food" type I've had. The closest one is in Altamonte Springs.

agree with cleanwater.... a good golf practice area (or all types of shots) would put a ribbon on a fine place!

A White Castle

My wife & I would like a fitness center that you do not have to pay an arm & a leg for. Should be included with amenity fee. I on the other hand also agree that more golf practice facilities ie: Ranges would be nice with free
range balls for all also included in amenity fee that is at a lifetime rate not to exceed $130.

Shopping at Costco is like shopping anywhere else. You have to know your prices, shop wisely, and don't overspend. Costco has excellent meat products, and for the most part, you can save money shopping there.

Wow ... a lot of good responses!

Yep, I'd love to see a reasonable health facility. Heaven knows I need it! When we come down, I do want to check out all the exercise programs they have going on at Sumter Landing Square... so need to get involved in being healthier *sigh*.

Would like to see the practice golf areas-- need as much help there as possible, too! *chuckle*

I love to buy in bulk, so a Sam's Club or Costco would be great. I am currently a member of Sam's Club, only because the Costco is in a Chicago burb too far away.

** I LOVE PEAPOD so, I would love to see a PeaPod (ordering groceries via the internet) delivery service in the area!! I can get better fresh veggies from there than I can from our local markets, that is if it isn't during the 'in season' farm stand time. **

My 2cents! ;)

A Sam's Club is being built near Home Depot. Won't be long and we will have one.

We would love to see pools with hot tubs, lights on the free tennis courts and a indoor pool and fitness center (besides the rehab center). A water slide at a pool would be nice also.

A movie theater (preferably an AMC so I could continue getting points for free movie showings, popcorn and soda, etc.) with 16 to 24 screens and stadium seating would be nice. The Villages also needs a hobby store like Michaels or Hobby Lobby.

I thought White Castle was not even in Florida???

A Blockbuster or Hollywood Video store near 466 and maybe one even at the south end of the Villages.

A theater troupe??

Somewhere in TV or near where I could get Dutch Crunch bread.

Ok, my wish list:

1. A Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory (Ummmmmmm)

2. A closer (to Duval) Target

3. A hot tub at the pools

4. A "thick" pan Pizza from Pizza Hut that delivers to Duval!!!!!

5. A library around the corner in (you guessed it) Duval.

6. The news that starts at 10:00 rather than 11:00 est.

7. The Broncos on the TV without paying (an arm and a leg) to purchase "the dish" to see them.

8. My best friend coming to visit once a month......... Ok, now I'm getting carried away!!!

but I think that is my wish list. :joke: :joke:

Oh, and my grandchildren paying their own way to come and see us!!!! ( I know, I'm getting greedy!!!)

Those groups do seem to leave fairly early. Maybe in the winter they will be leaving later when it is not so hot?

A Trader Joe's any where near TV selling "3 Buck Chuck". The closest is in Georgia or North Carolina. We have to stop and load up before hitting the the Florida border.

IMO we Village People need:
1. Joanne's fabric, or Calico Corners Outlet, or Hanc(r)ock Fabric store, any or all!
2. Hobby Lobby and/or Michael's
3. Trader Joe's

How about some recreation trails (non cart) through swamps and other interesting wildlife areas? It'd be a nice walk for bird and other animal watching.

If you need a White Castle burger fix, try the Krystal in Ocala on 200. Their krystal burger is the same thing. Ate them since I was a kid in Jacksonville. Still do.

If you could get a emergency appointment with your doctor ... as it now stands you must plan to get sick or injured in advance to be treated by your personal doctor who claims to have no time in his schedule for emergency treatments .... you must either go to the emergency room or urgent care(SL) ...... who will do their very best to help you( and they do good work) but they aren't your personal physician ..... and this seems to be cpmmon to the area....... I can readily understand how it might be more fun to treat people who aren't newly ill or injured, they tend to be so sloppy .............

A Christmas Tree Shop - great store that originated in Cape Cod, Mass - right now only in New England States. Great values on home wares, dishes, glasses, cookware, lawn & yard decor, all seasonal holiday decorations

Life would be better for all of us if the villages would provide for curbside recycling once every two weeks or so.

Very good point, Pearlsam. We had this in Palm Harbor which is an unincorporated community on the West Coast of FL near St Pete and Tampa. You would think that with all the planning that must have gone into the Villages, that they would have thought about recycling. Be good for the Villagers' grandkids too.

A recycling plan is in the works for you recyclers. Unfortuanately, the rest of us will have to haul our stuff to the curb also.

That's good. It is not optional then to collect your cans, bottles, and the like for curbside service? Wonder how they would enforce such a rule?

If you don't mind a ride, you can go to Rogers Christmas House Village 103 Saxon Avenue Brooksville FL 34601-3434

There was also a place north on Rt 75 past Ocala. It was a pretty nice place that had lot of stuff and lots of different showcases. Not sure it it is still there but I would bet it is.
