I bought my wife a Kindle for Christmas. I am wondering if I should register it under her personal account or should I register it under my account. Somewhere I read that if they were under the same account we could "share" the Amazon Prime offering.
Is there any other advantage of putting both Kindles under the same account Id? Or does it lead to confusion.
I cannot really see anything under Kindle help and the emails I have exchanged with Contact Us have not been that informative.
Thanks,
Z

If you put them on the same account you can share your books and other Amazon offerings. If they are on different accounts you can't share. If you sre both reading the same book, the 2 Kindles will keep track of your page numbers separately. All the information about page numbers, bookmarks, notes etc. resides in "the Cloud" not on the device itself. When you register name them Kindle and Kindle 2.

Here is a link to Amazon that discusses your concern.

We have I think 7 devices. Both of us have the old version kindles. We both have ipads that are assigned as readers in Amazon. Susi uses her MAcbook as a reader. I have the kindle white and just got her a kindle white for Christmas (shush). The advantage to a single Amazon account: All the books we have ever bought can be read on any of those 7 devices. They even go back to the correct place in the book if I pick up any of my 3 devices.
You can share books even with two separate accounts, but it's a PITA.
