Had the strangest thing happen to us last night. We arrived around 7pm and the place was absolutely packed. Got a booth right away and the server came and took our drink orders and they arrived right away. She then said I'll be back in a min to take your orders, and she did. By this time, it was 7:15 at the latest. Meanwhile, the place started to really empty out and we watched new people arrive and get their drinks right away. We suddenly realized that it was 7:50 and we didn't have our food and all the new arrivals had their food already. I called over to the server and asked if she could check, she gave me a hi sign. A little while later, another server came over and asked if anyone took our order, my guest said he forgot what he ordered and I told her that yes the server was checking on it and it had been about 50 min. Back comes my original server and she gave us a very apologetic explanation that she had forgotten to turn in our order but it was coming up momentarily. 20 mins later, still no food and she had just walked out from the kitchen area with more drinks for people and no food. We were just shocked, and finally left without paying for our drinks. My partner had a headache and I was stunned. I have been there numerous times and never had this problem. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem at that restaurant lately. I know they've been advertising for new servers so maybe that was the problem?? I hope this doesn't become a pattern for them. I really like that place.

We had that issue the last time we visited (see my post), but they comped us our whole bill including a pitcher and 2 mugs of beer. I'm surprised they didn't make it right.

Have not found a good B O B anywhere. Chain food, Chain service, Chain quality. It's a pattern.

Sounds like the Server had a real problem. We have been there several times but never had a problem even close to what you encountered. I would want to "chat" with the manager.

Well, she promised me that she would make it right, but I was soooo hungry and the food never came out, I just decided I would go get a Subway sub and forget about everything. It was very bad. I thought after she said that she made the mistake, that the food would be out in a few minutes,,, after 20 mins, I had it.

Same thing happened to us in October, so I don't think it's a new server issue. We ended up going to the bar and asking about our order, after asking another waitress to check on the order. The bartender and a server who was standing there said the food would be right out. Finally gave up after another 15 minutes, left money for drinks and left. Won't be back.

Had that happen once about a year ago. I was sitting at the bar and didn't say a word except to ask my server if I was getting my burger soon since two other people had. The manager came over after I had eaten and comped my meal. Twas a pleasant surprise. I think every restaurant and server has off days, especially when getting used to not too busy to overwhelmed (which is the case when snowbird season starts). So, I'd hope this was an exception rather than the new rule there.

Kathie,
I have noticed a big change over in servers there. Must be some type of management issue.

Sorry to hear this. I have never had a bad meal or service there. I only do lunch so that may be the difference.

We like dining at B O B in Wildwood. The atmosphere seems more relaxed and the food is just as good.

I don't know the policy of that restaurant, but some local diners will take the cost of your drink and dash out of the server's pay at full cost. And of course leaving without paying for what you did receive is wrong IMO. A complaint to the management as you were leaving would have likely had the charge zeroed.

You should have added that you also stuck the server with the bill you didn't pay. Is that the way we handle disputes in TV? Then proudly tell the world about it! I must be missing something.

You will come to learn that restaurant posts on TOTV are quite common.
A poster complains about food, service, etc,. Then posts will follow that others have had a wonderful experience. I think these whining posts are a waste of time.

There's one in every crowd!!! Pay for what?? There was no bill, there was no food???? Two cokes was all we had. Had we been drinking beer or booze, we might have been more patient. Give me a break!!! She also missed out on a very healthy tip, had she done her job. Yessss, we were starving, and shaky too. Waiting 1 hour 15 min????

The world is full of tough lessons or at least it should be. I do not understand why people today are so willing to bend over backwards to "understand" the perpetrator of the deed. In the real world, you either do or you don't.

If the server got stuck with paying for two soft drinks, I would consider it an inexpensive, yet powerful, learning experience about leaving a customer UN-served. Perhaps better to absorb the cost of the drinks than to have the manager fire her for her inattention to customers.

Beef O'Bradys is a chain, and like almost every corporation they are interested in your experience at their restaurant. You can contact them on line at Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Family Sports Restaurants and Pubs (http://www.beefobradys.com) (the hot link came out as gibberish, but if you click it, it works) and then hit "contact " or you can call their company voice mail at 800-728-8878.

Had similar problem. We called the corporate office in Tampa and given regional supervisor's phone number. Was able to get the owner's direct phone number. Spoke to him directly. After several conversations, we did receive a $35 gift card. Bottom line--- the server never put our order in. Email me if you want the owner name and phone number.

Went into Walmart, only buying about 4 dollars of stuff. The cashier was out of change and had me wait. She came back with paper for the receipt printer but no change. I reminded her she needed to get change. Left me again and I think she went on break. After 20 minutes I just walked out with my stuff which I bagged myself. After that lousy experience I don't think I should have to pay for my purchases.

So the moral of the story is, whenever you are inconvienenced, just grab whatever you want, bag it up and walk out the door. It's hard to believe that Wal-Mart didn't have another check-out lane open you could have used.
Hopefully you are not serious, but using this as an analogy for walking out of a restaurant without paying. Otherwise, you could have spent the night in jail for shoplifting $4.00 worth of stuff.

That would be correct. I am amazed at the number of posters who seem to think that walking out of the restaurant and not paying was not only correct but would possibly teach the server an important tough lesson in life. I took that opinion and simply moved it to Walmart. Those who didn't see the analogy did seem to identify the action clearly as theft but somehow many don't see non-payment of a restaurant charge as theft.
The one thing that we are all forgetting here...the op couldn't get the server's attention to get her food. So how was she supposed to get the check?
And a $35 gift certificate would not have swayed me in the least. I never go back anywhere just to be aggravated again.

Really it sounds like more then one in this crowd. If service was that bad you just pay the bill or leave the money on the table and not leave a tip. I believe you were just upset and did not consider the end result.

Way too liberal response. More sympathy for worker than is deserved.
