View Full Version : Scrooge in Allandale Villas

There appears to be a scrooge in the Allandale Villas in Duval. Last year, at least 2 residents had their Christmas lights cut, and it has just happened again tonight. Someone seems to be walking around with wire cutters and ruining our holiday displays. Could this really be happening in The Villages??
Please be on the lookout for anyone acting suspicious.
Thanks.
A concerned resident of Allendale Villas.

How sad. Hope they catch the guy (maybe time for some videos to be set up by the lights?).

That is just awful to hear. Wire cutters and electric current seems like a risky mix. Hope if they do it again they get a good jolt and deterrent to STOP.

If this only happens in the villas. Call a meeting to discuss this. The one who does not show is the traitor. Then call Michael Corleone. He has experience with traitors.

I wouldn't want to be that perp if the wrong person caught them red handed.
It could well be "lights out" for them... too! http://www.shrimperzone.com/vb/images/smilies/dizzy%20new%20aug%202010.gif

They actually had the forethought to unplug the cord before cutting it. Premeditation for sure.

Don't throw away the damaged cord. CSI can match up the cut marks on the cord to the scissors or wire cutters.

I love this approach. Maybe because I am from NJ.

I would suspect someone does not like the lights shinning into their bedroom window. May be if you turned them off earlier it would solve the problem. Anyways, no excuse for damaging someone's property.

Surely, all this miserable little person has to do, is knock on your doors and ask for you to turn them off / down at a certain time!!
Or, plug them in, inside your home! That would slow the little worm down!!
I find this quite shocking!!

Based on what I have learned from comments in threads about road rage and stealing roses, the person who did this clearly has dementia.

Not all folks with dementia become MEAN. Some become quite docile.
But then again, who truly knows what is going on in the person's mind.

Do chickens have tongues?
I think it is someone who has NEVER tried to bring the spirit of Christmas/New Years/ Joy/ Celebration of life, into their hearts and feel left out of fun get togethers.
I say to that person. You get outa life just what you put in.
Have a party, give a gift. try a lttle to enjoy this festive time. Life is too short to do bitter ugly things. If you don't have a holiday, create your own. Invite people to your home. It makes me mad and sad all at the same time.

Sounds like a person who gets depressed during the holidays. Still no exciuse, in wanting other people to feel just as miserable. :( I sincerely hope he/she gets the help, they need.
He should be, "made an offer he can't refuse".

Form a neighborhood posse. When caught wrap the person in Christmas lights; plug him in and stand him up like a tree!

Very sad that someone would do this.
If you find him/her....send them to this neghborhood to "endure" the beautiful displays. It would be a good "punishment". I find it amazing how elaborate some people decorate. I especially like Santa on the ladder.

Thanks to everyone who responded to the "Scrooge" posting. Many were insightful, funny and sympathetic.
Happy Holidays to one and all even Scrooge and Grinch.

I used to apprehend people who committed crimes "under cover of darkness."
In my second career as a deputy sheriff I worked in the technical area. We had night vision cameras that we would set up in situations like this, obtain video and usually solve the crime.
If this were serious enough that someone really wanted to solve it, these cameras and recorders are available on the civilian market. I doubt that the local police would be willing to make an installation in a situation like this but it might be worth asking them.

Sounds like someone in the neighbor doesn't like the lights. To bad there is no snow to see where the tracks come from. LOL

These displays are fabulous and if they are really in The Villages can't believe people are buzzing about them. Can you give us a clue where we can see these???

Not sure where this video was taken and it's an old video.
Check out this thread for suggestions on where to see nice displays.
There is also a golf cart lights tour on December 16. at 6pm. Leaves from Churchill
