I am posting this on behalf of Pat and Dave, Executive Committee. We hope that all Loonies had a great U.S. Thanksgiving - isn't it great having two Thanksgivings to celebrate!
The annual Christmas Party will be held on Wednesday, December 11, at La Hacienda, starting at 6:30 pm. The Registration desk for new members and returning members will open at 5:30pm.
We will once again have our party catered by Chic-fil-A - the cost for the Christmas buffet will be $5 per person. Please bring your own beverages.
"Just Mike" will be entertaining us with both Christmas music and his usual "get up and dance" music. We will have with us that evening a very special gentleman who resides in our area most of the year, but his alter ego hales from the most Northern part of Canada. [Ho Ho Ho]
With this being the Christmas season, we ask that you all donate to the following CL&T’s charitable projects, so that we can share Christmas spirit and the good fortune we have with folks in our area that do not enjoy the same privileges we do.
Please bring a toy for our "Toys for Exceptional, Underprivileged and Handicapped Children Drive" headed up each year by our special guest. Every year for over the past 40 years, this man you will meet delivers toys to kids in the three-county area that we live in. Many of the toys he purchases with his own funds. He now has over 300 children on his list to provide for. It's a very worthwhile cause.
For the third consecutive year, we also ask that you bring a food donation for the Wildwood Food Pantry, so we can provide some Christmas cheer for less privileged families that live in our area. Please check to be sure the donation is not past the "best before" date.
Also this year, we are going to conduct a clothing drive for the Shepherd's Lighthouse Thrift Store in Belleview. We ask that if you have any clothes you no longer wear, that you bring them in green garbage bags, and we will take them to Belleview.
We will also have a sign up desk set up for our annual trips to The CSA Extravaganza, Tampa Bay/ Ottawa Hockey Game and Toronto Blue Jay/ Tampa Bay Ray Baseball Game. (More information below).
We look forward to seeing you at the Christmas Party.

Here is some additional information on our annual trips provided by Dave and Pat, Executive Committee.
You can also beat the rush by signing up on line by emailing us at loonesandtoonies@gmail.com and we will confirm your spots and advise payment information.
Canadian Snowbird Extravaganza in Lakeland Florida
- Every year the CSA brings top quality entertainers from Canada to Lakeland for a two-day Extravaganza. Last year we filled two buses with members, who went down to hear the likes of John McDermott, Jimmy Flynn and Bowser and Blue in addition to visiting the table top exhibition and hearing other presentations on Snowbird Life.
We have arranged a bus to take us there and back on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at a cost of just $ 20 per person payable in advance. Bus will leave The Villages at 8 am and have us back around 6 pm.
For more information you can check out CSA Extravaganza website Snowbird Extravaganza - Entertainers (http://snowbirdextravaganza.com/entertain2.html)
Ottawa Senators vs Tampa Bay Lightning in Tampa Bay, Florida
- We have arranged premium seats at the beautiful Tampa Bay Forum for the game March 24, at 7:30 pm as well as bus transportation provided by the Tampa Bay Lightning - Price for ticket and transportation is $ 60 per person payable in advance. World famous Canadian trivia contest will be held on the way down to Tampa.
Toronto Blue Jays vs Tampa Bay Rays - April 1, 2014
- This year instead of traveling to Dunedin and seeing a spring training game, we have secured tickets in an exclusive group area on the third base side at Tropicana Field in Tampa for a regular season game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Tampa Bay Rays at a cost of $60 per person payable in advance.
A bus has been arranged to pick us up in The Villages and return us back right after the game (game time has not yet been assigned). We also have a baseball trivia contest to entertain us on our travels.
