VCCD (?) Tree Removal north of 466

I notice that almost all of the trees and landscaping in the Winn Dixie parking lot have been removed. Now, the same is being done on El Camino Real. Anyone know why they are doing this? Really a shame.

Villages’ Winn-Dixie removing older trees from parking lot of supermarket

The Winn-Dixie supermarket in The Villages is in the process of removing all of the trees from its parking lot.

Many of the store’s shoppers have been wondering what’s going on in the parking lot.

“This is a tree removal project,” said Thad Carroll, growth management director for the Town of Lady Lake. “The trees were older and it appears they are moving the ground cover as well.”

He said Winn-Dixie is in the process of filing a permit for the project.

He said the indication is that new trees will be planted.

The work is being performed by Down To Earth, a landscaping company in The Villages.
