He is bravely taking chemo and doing pretty well, but a little message reminding him he is part of us wouldn't hurt.

I just had my nephew haul off 4 office chairs to his dumpster. One was given to me and it originally cost over $1250.00 and was oh so nice to sit in and was high back and well padded. Not like something you get at Office Max. I had tons of junk stacked on the chairs and as I got them ready for pick up I noticed a 1999 bill for something that was important back then. I take all the paper and mailings into the family room and go through them a couple of times but still end up throwing most of it away.

Cindy going to Australia is super. One thing on my bucket list. I always wanted to go there. I will have to get the low down on the trip when she returns.

I was at my PCP today and he was very pleased at my progress. A1C Sugar level was great and he could not be happier. I have a abdominal CAT scan tomorrow and get the results on Thursday's office visit with the oncologist. I never have had that test before and this is the one where you have to drink the stuff that tastes like chalk or paint as some have put it.

Hello Gracie

I just wanted to bring you up to date on a very good week. First of all on Monday I had an appointment with my PCP for my 3 month check up. Blood test results on the non cancer tings like LDL, HDL and A1C were all good and he said my sugar levels were all good. Sugar is not an issue with me since spending the year and a half loosing weight. He was very pleased at all the results.

On Tuesday I was scheduled for a CAT scan and had to drink the barium solution. It was not that bad but something I can do without. After the scan I asked if I could see the scan and the tech took me into the control room and WOW what technology is really all about. I could have played with that scan for hours. It was totally amazing.

Today I had an appointment for an office visit with my oncologist to go over the CAT scan results. The doctor walked into the exam room and almost fell over. He said my weight was where they wanted, and my facial color was back to normal. A far cry from the end of August when I was diagnosed. He said that if it were not for the new "Do" (hair loss from the chemo) that you could not tell I was fighting cancer.

Now the scan results. There is one number that they get from either the scan and blood work at the time of the scan that is an indication as to where the cancer cells are coming from and how active they are. Back in Sept the number was 1000+ and today it was 400+. The doctor was thrilled. He stated that they wanted all the numbers to be at least the same meaning everything is stable and not getting worse. They really want to see declining numbers in all categories and not any increases. In my case ALL the number went down and he said the reduction was more than normal for someone with my type of cancer. He again was extremely pleased and asked what I was doing different and I said I have a large contingent of friends in TV Florida that are taking care of that side of things. He wanted to know about TV and I had to give the short version of the Gracie sales pitch to splain things to him. He wants a copy of the sales CD so I will take one in on the next office visit.

Now back to the scan. The one thing he had in question was one of the spots on my lung has gotten a small bit larger. Now this lesion has a hole in the center of it which is common for a dying lesion but the thing is question is the overall growth in size of the lesion although being small. The doctor explained it like a tomato dying from the inside out. The tomato will get a little bigger before it totally dies and get smaller. He is hoping that this is what is happening in this case. He will keep an eye on it for the next CAT scan which will be in another three months. The doctor is predicting it will die off and everything will be fine.

So for the next three months I will continue what I am doing and see where that takes us. Hopefully it is back to TV.
