It is free golf on the championship courses on Christmas Day. Not on New Years that I know of, just Christmas Day. There are no tee time reservations. Show up and get in line.

So I gather it's busy on the championship courses on Christmas Day?? Maybe we should stick to the executive courses.

When hundreds of villagers line up for a free coffee mug promotion..........what do you think happens on Christmas Day on the Champonship courses?

To avoid long lines and slow play, defenitely do the executives. When i did the championship the line at 630 am was 6 forsomes. By 9 it was 15 foresomes. Very slow also, 5.5 hr round.

On Executive courses, are the Starter Shacks open on Christmas Day? Or do golfers just walk on and play?

Sounds like shopping on Xmas eve. I assume, there is no one to man, the golf courses.

Merry Xmas and happy golfing.

No starters shacks are open, no cart rentals, no club rentals. Employees will be on the Champ. Courses just to keep order. No employees on the execs.

And they're going to pull out all the pins and fill the holes to cut down on putting time.

There's a little blurb about the free Christmas golf in today's Daily Sun (12/16) on B2 of sports.

It'll tell you about which championship courses can be used for 9 hole and which for 18 hole play.

It's not all that bad. I've played every year since 2006 except for once when it rained ALL day.

You just gotta get lucky and show up when the lines are short. Slow play? that's a given.

Better check with the championship course (especially the 27 hole courses) to see which Nine is the 18-hole starting point and which is the 9-hole starting point. Also, bring lots of patience. Ho Ho Ho!!!!

Yes it's true. Don't let the complainers dampen your holiday. It's makes for a fun filled day just like any event in The Villages.

HOLY TEE SHOT!!! ONLY 5.5 hours? That was the norm on Long Island for 18. If you were lucky, that is. SO HAPPY TO BE HERE IN THE VILLAGES!!!!!!

Village old-timers told me the day to play Exec courses is the free day at the Championship course. Lots of people on the Championship courses who don't usually play them = slow play
