We had someone stealing packages in Mission Hills yesterday. We have two very clear pictures of him-he was chased by a concrete worker after stealing a neighbor's packages and the person chasing him got close ups. He rides his bike and had a backpack that he ditched with a package in it and he also threw down another package that he stole. He is maybe an older teen or very young 20's. Hard to say but the picture going around is very distinctive. He rides a Mongoose bike with a lot of chrome color on it, "Sumano" and "element" written on the back and front near the wheels, with a water bottle attached. He was wearing dark clothes and held a plaid shirt and wore heavier looking black boots. I am asking you to be on the look out for your own neighborhood as I doubt he will come back here as he has been identified, at least to his behavior. And yes the sheriff is involved but came too late to catch him. And it is not the first time he has been seen in the neighborhood, I saw him riding through a week or two ago. Keep your eyes open for someone of this description and if you see him, just call 911.

I'll say. Good work from the Mission Hills bunch to catch this pic and post it.

We need to copy and get the email thing going in TV.

Ditto. That was my first thought, but then I'm not that familiar with the new areas.

I wondered too. Were they taken by your village pool?

. I have sent this off in an email to my Village,

Jane, do you KNOW the person that took the pictures and the background? It looks like a two story place and I don't recognize it.

The person who chased him took video. The pictures are from behind the sales center in Lake Sumter Landing where he was chased to. The person chasing him has the video of him chasing the suspect and the still shots. The chaser then went back to the home of my neighbor where the packages were stolen and showed her. She is going to the sheriff this morning to file.

Another clue came in from a Mission Hills neighbor. It was helpful and I followed up and found out where he worked. Sheriff's Dept is on it as is his employer. That is all I can share for now but Mission Hill's is an awesome neighborhood and it shows if you watch what is going on and pay attention to what people are wearing when they look out of place it can be very helpful. This is amazing and quick detective work by my very awesome neighbors.

I think the pictures are in the back of this building of the Lake Sumter Landing Sales Office complex:

You can doubt it all you want. It is solved and the sheriff's dept dealing with it now. And that person is the person who stole the packages and has been identified by neighbors and the employer.

So, the perp has been identified by his employer? He should not be too hard for the police to pick up in that case.

The way the courts are today, he'll probably just get probation
and a slap on the wrist. Too bad the days of "street justice" are
gone.:(:(:police::rolleyes:

Good work, in deed! And special appreciation goes to the chaser!!

Perhaps folks might want to post a copy of the picture/story are mailbox locations - just to alert other villagers who are not on totv to the fact the this can happen under the bubble?

Jane, I didn't doubt, simply asked where the picture was taken as i didn't recognize it.

Glad the issue has been addressed...Great job by our wonderful neighbors. :BigApplause:

No I didn't read doubt into your question either, just being puzzled as many were. I rented in Mission Hills and was pretty sure that photo was not in that neighborhood, ergo most likely LSL and yep that looks like the rentals just n. of the sales ofc..?
Everybody's happy. But who are the heroes who took action and solved this?

I would love to see a complete report on that. Justice rocks.

Oh I was not responding to you but thanks. The main story is neighbors need to communicate and work together and look after one another.

You have got to read ALL of the posts. An earlier post identified where the pix was taken and why it was at that particular location.

OOPS! I did not take my own advice. I missed Bogies post saying same as mine. Sorry.

Sad to say, but that looks like someone who might work in one of the local restaurants here in TV. That's a typical kitchen outfit, and those clogs are also worn by back-of-the-house employees. So, not only will he get arrested for theft ( isn't tampering with the mail a federal offense?) but probably lose his job to boot.

There is an article about this crime already posted on The Villages on-line news, complete with photo of the woman chaser.

Apparently the alledged perpetrator was caught with women's sweaters and oil filters.

I happen to believe you both. However keep in mind that a thread is on a continuum so that a reader may have read every post however by the time he completes his comments a number of post already completed may have finally reached the thread before his/hers'......

Its usually rather obvious when a poster never read anything but the OP.

As posted, the theft happened in Haciendas of Mission Hills. The thief was chased and pictures taken behind the LSL Sales Center area. He has been identified and his work location has been notified. That is all that can be shared for the moment. The Sheriff is looking after things. The neighborhood did the sleuth work and tracked down where he worked via his clothing. He was a walking (peddling) advertisement for his employer unfortunately.

Todays paper: Two TVs stolen on Dec 10nth, as they were left unattended for nearly a day in a home at Lakeshore Cottages at Lake Sumter Landing. Two Samsung 40" TVs. Don't think someone can ride a bike and carry two TVs at the same time!!! Hope they catch up with this person too

The image of that boy on the bicycle is on my mind.

I think that by the time a person is of this age, not much can change their ethics. I think most of us really made an issue of stealing when kids were really little, and that has a chance of sticking with them.

How ashamed his parents must be.

BUT...How old do you think he is?

Perhaps that's a logo on the guy's red hat? aldi? I don't shop there so I dunno..this is a really cool story! thanks for sharing it.

jane032657
12-18-2013, 08:17 AM
The hat has nothing to do with where he worked. We know where he works(or by this time worked). It was on his tee shirt. No matter, the sheriff was going to deal with it yesterday and the employer is in the loop fully. Case solved for Mission Hills.
