There is a new 4 way stop at the intersection of Mulberry Lane and Belle Meade. There are 4 active businesses at this intersection. Walgreens, Rehab Center, Citizens First Bank, a Gas Station/Food Mart and a traffic light on 42 about 500 feet from the intersection. The congestion, uninformed drivers, rudeness etc. is just unbelievable. If you value your life avoid this intersection at all costs or be very very careful.

It's not a bad intersection if everyone would just obey the traffic rules and stop! Be very careful is true but that's the case anywhere in The Villages.

I agree that caution is in order.
However, I also think that changing the intersection into a four way stop was the appropriate thing to do.
Traffic turning onto Belle Meade from 42 tends to be coming up to the Mulberry crossing a bit too fast and can be frightening to a golf cart driver who is starting up from a dead stop.
Also, drivers on Mulberry tend to think they are on what should be the through street because it is heavily trafficked since it is the path from Buena Vista to the shopping center and the VA Clinic.
A four way stop seems to be the best solution. One hopes that drivers who have been accustomed to driving through the intersection on Belle Meade without stopping will quickly learn to stop for the signs.
Incidentally, to emphasize the new traffic controls, stop signs on Belle Meade have been installed not only at the curbs but also in the median.
I applaud the change.

I would like to see first priority given to golf cart safety before the speedy access to locations by car. Most of us in The Villages are retired and should be afforded the opportunity to enjoy the trip as much as the destination.

I live up in Woodbury Village and use this intersection many times each week. It wasn't safe beforehand, and now it is safer. If there are 'uniformed' drivers, then they can be found anywhere running very visible 'stop' signs. Also, there are warning signs telling a driver that there is a 'stop' sign coming up.
I agree with Carl's post.
Have a good one!

Right.
Both streets at this particular intersection are dual use. Both cars and golf carts operate on them.
That's why it is good that the cars coming off of 42 will have to stop at Mulberry, making it safer for the golf carts to cross.
