Recently got this remote to replace an older Harmony remote. This is a fantastic upgrade at 1/3 the price of the older models. Cost was $105 on amazon.

This simple remote will replace all you current entertainment remotes, and even works with components enclosed in a cabinet or behind a wall. It is nowhere near the complexity of the previous universal remotes that I have had. In addition to the actual remote, you can also use your smartphone or tablet to control your entertainment system.

For best results, you need a wi-fi network in your home.

Setup works best with an iPad or iPhone (or android equivalents) over your wi-fi network. The entire setup was done from my iPad and took less than 20 minutes. It was very easy, and works perfectly.

I control my Panasonic TV, DirecTV, Onkyo receiver, AppleTV, Sony Blu-Ray player and SkyFi xm receiver. Half the equipment is behind the living room wall. Setup was done just by adding my device model numbers and specifying the component connections. I pretty much figured out what the activities were, and required minimal customization to complete the setup.
