shcisamax,
I sent you a PM. I switched from T&D to Sparkling Waters pool & Spa Services, Inc. and have been very happy with them.

Is there a problem with T&D?

Is there a problem with T&D?Same question here. We've had T&D for over a year now and haven't detected a reason to warrant looking for another service yet!

I really think my guy that comes is quite nice. That said, initially they had put in chemicals that were incorrect and the calcium built up causing skin to be taken off both my son and me. No one wanted to get in the pool because it hurt. That was finally fixed. Several months ago, the grout was getting more and more stained and I kept pointing it out and he said he was trying different things. It was about two months before the grout was actually clean. If you are coming every week, there should be no reason for the grout not be clean. The other day, the heater wasn't working which isn't their fault. But when they came out to fix whatever it was which was under warranty, they pulled out the filter which was pretty black and said it should have been replaced after one year. A year was over six months ago. Someone isn't paying attention. This is a minor replacement. I worry about things not getting done that can affect larger issues. When I mentioned my concerns, the person on the other end said, "Well, I apologize but we can't go back in time...the filter needs to be replaced. It is $80. Do you want someone to come or not." A little underwhelming for a good customer relationship. I just thought I might check around to see if anyone is thrilled with someone else.

We had T&D build our pool and maintain it for the last 8 years.
Our pool tech is super conscientious about everything. The company has ALWAYS been responsive about repairs and replacement of equipment.
If one is dis-satisfied and has not talked to the management then there must be more to the story....as there always is.

Oh my gosh! All I asked in my original post was did any other companies do pool service besides T&D. It was open ended because I have never seen another company here. Someone asked if there was a problem and I responded with my concern. I said it was minor. I said I liked the guy that comes. It wasn't some awful long diatribe filled with venom and intrigue. It was a short recount of a couple experiences leading me to think about looking at other companies if there is the possibility. Suddenly I am being questioned if I am leaving something out of the story? What is wrong with people on this forum?

Funny that you should mention about the pool filter being dirty. I spend most of my time up north, but when I come down I always find my pool clean and sparkling. However I did ask how they clean out the filter if my house water is completely turned off? His reply.... he doesn't!!! The only time that the filter gets cleaned out is when I'm down, otherwise it stays dirty.

GPGuar I'm not talking about the filter near the pool I am talking about a large...3 ft looks like a hundred paper sheaths that is out near the outside equipment. I don't know where he took it out from but apparently it is something that is supposed to be changed once a year. Have you gotten a bill for $80 recently? If so, that is what it was for.

That is the one that I'm talking about, it's right next to the pump. Being that the pools not used that much, the filter is still useable so they haven't asked to replace it yet. I think that you could get it cheeper than $80.

But I didn't think pool usage was what it is based upon. I just thought it was the environmental usage..Junk sifting down from the birdcage? air? bacteria? :)
I just want a company that I know is paying attention to what has to get done. I don't want to find at some point something wasn't serviced correctly and suddenly something really expensive goes kaput. I have a nice recommendation which I will follow up on.

I agree with you.....But that's what my pool guy told me, "that the pool doesn't get that dirty when it's not used and therefore the filter stays cleaner longer". If you find a better and less expensive service please let me know.

I changed from T&D because in my opinion they were too expensive. I never had a problem with them, I just found someone just as good only cheaper.

We had a hose bibb added to the pool overflow. You can turn off the whole house but still get water at the bibb.

I use Tri County Pool and Spa and have been very happy with the pool and service techs. They are on 441 in Fruitland Park.

In two years I have had at least 6 different techs with T&D, some good and some bad. The turnover is terrible making me think that going with a small outfit that is owner operated may be better.

Sparkling Waters does a good job for me, local, friendly and reasonable. I found their ad in Daily Sun Service Section. Good Luck..
