You may not be better off after knee surgery - CNN.com (http://www.cnn.com/2013/12/26/health/knee-surgery-study/)

Interesting study. The actually did fake surgery on patients and they did just as well as the ones who got real meniscus surgery. This is a selected patient population and may not apply to everyone.

In this trial involving patients without knee osteoarthritis but with symptoms of a degenerative medial meniscus tear, the outcomes after arthroscopic partial meniscectomy were no better than those after a sham surgical procedure

You may want to contact Dr. Peter Mulhern. He is an orthopedic surgeon but is not knife happy. He will only do the surgery if it is necessary. He was my doctor and neighbor in Ringgold, GA before he moved his practice to TV and worked on a hand and knee for me both without surgery.
