We are ALMOST packed up here in Ohio. Movers are coming on Saturday. We are finnally moving to Hadley Village. We have owned and rented out our home for the last 5 years. Excited & Stressed. Question...our movers Bekins are loading, moving and unloading @ over $3,000...not pack/unpack. Do we tip and if so, how much?

We had a moving company, we packed and unpacked and we still tipped. I think we gave the two guys about $30 and said something like "have lunch", they were more than happy.

We tip, I worked for a while in the service industry and I know how much I appreciated a tip. You get out of life what you put into it!

We also tipped. We moved in Dec 2012 from LI and it cost 3300. (weight of books I refused to throw out - more than half had gone!) The driver stayed with the truck to TV but we asked and found out there were two different loading/unloading crews on LI and in TV.

They did great work and a good deal of last minute extra work. We tipped them each $50 and the driver $75. Individual circumstances and helpfulness and courtesy play a part I think.

Good wishes and welcome to the greatest place you can find.

Tipping is a great idea. We tipped when they loaded us from the CYV and tipped them again when they unloaded us at our new home. Gave each of them $20 each time (total $80) Ain't much. But to them it meant a nice lunch

Thanks...I have always been a good tipper but I have not had movers in so many years, I forgot the parodical. It's great to have this forum to ask questions. Thanks again.

These guys do a lot of heavy lifting and work very hard. A tip would be a very nice thing to do.

We tipped about $100 to the driver/truck owner and his wife because they packed and got everything here without any damage, were great to deal with and because they did a bit of extra work after we arrived. On the off-chance we ever had to move again, we would call them first.

Don't you want them to leave, with all your stuff, in a happy mood?

When the two guys that LadyDoc had told us about unloaded our stuff at this house more than two years ago and told us what the final charge would be, we were shocked.

It wasn't nearly enough. We gave them quite a bit more.

Thank you Ladydoc. They were terrific.

Tipping movers? Always!

We always gave the "boss" a little more and the "helpers" somewhat less. I believe a minimum of $20.00 and up, depending upon the details (long distance move, did the same men load and unload, etc.) in addition to buying them lunch.

It's very unlikely you will have the same crew loading and unloading so you really should tip twice. I've always just given $100 to the boss to be divided among them.
