It seems we have everything here in the Villages, but I was wondering what you all thought might make The Villages a better place.

Is there a certain service or store from home that you really miss and can't find here?

Another vote for Home Goods. I make it a point to stop at Home Goods, in Ft. Lauderdale, when visiting my son, and always have to think of filing for bankruptcy, when I finish shopping.

Down another $300 on this trip, and don't even want to remember my last trip. My guess is another $500 or more. I asked the saleslady to take my picture, and ban me from Home Goods. she replied, "after you do that for me". :D

Seriously, they would have a captive audience in TV shoppers, as it's a great store, for upgrading and decorating one's home at reasonable prices, for what you get in quality. IMHO

The chicken wings are delicious and plentiful at Cody's less than a block from the empty TGIF's. Cody's would give them a good run for the money but Wild Buffalo Wings is a good thought.

A Korean restaurant would have a hard time in The Villages. Much of the Korean food depends on lots of hot spices and pepper and to bland it down to so many Villagers preferences would not be tasty. Can you imagine Kim Chee (the fermented and extremely spicy cabbage) being enjoyed by most at The Villages?

Most of the shops and stores around the villages seem to have sold out of size 16 and 18 because they are buying standard size runs which have only one size 16 and 18 for 4 size 12 and 14s and some items stop at size 16, which is not the correct buying for this demographic. I would think a shop with larger sizes that had good style like Jones New York and Liz etc would be good. Maybe heavy in what is called the yatch resort looks. Well tailored coordinates as most of the women I see around here have decent taste and are not the loud polyester big top types. The Macys in Ocala is a C level store so no larger sizes in the better labels most of the store is Macys own brands and even in those the selection in larger sizes was thin. We are taking a trip down to the Millenium Mall to that Macys as it is an A level and hopefully will have a decent Womans world area.

I love so much about TV, but am adding some fun "nice to have" items and other items that would really take it to the next level:

*Wegmans Food Market
*Tim Horton's Coffee Shop
*AAA-type service for golf cart breakdowns
*Charging stations for electric carts at the Regional Rec Centers (all colleges have electric car charging stations)
*GPS/Google Maps for Golf Cart/Multi-Modal Paths
*Preferred Seating at the squares for Villages ID holders
*Additional Bowling Alleys at LSL and Brownwood
*Larger Print Signage on Golf Cart/Multi-Modal Paths
*Catholic Church on the South end of TV
*Ted's Hot Dog Restaurants (Charcoal grilled year-round)
*TV Newspaper with Hard News/Editorials
*Gas station near LSL/Sweet Bay
*Garbage & Recycling Totes (with covers) (Ban plastic bags placed outside on curb - inviting vermin).
*EZ Pass Type Transponders to open gates (versus having open winder, scan card)
*Racquet Ball courts
*College level courses at Life Time Learning College
*Farmers Market at Squares
*Food & Wine training kitchens
*Employment Center/Call Centers for Work at Home Opportunities (great jobs for retirees!)

Hope this stimulates some discussion and is meant to be thought provoking.

There is a Catholic Church on the south end of TV. St. Vincent de Paul.

I have heard nothing but praise for Wegmans.

Remember to put all of your wishes and suggestions into the yearly survey from the developer. It gives them clout to show some of these businesses they are wanted.

WOW!!!! This was a really well thought out post. :bigbow:

After seeing the charging station suggestion I'm really, really surprised I've never seen that come up before. Seems like the perfect place for it. Maybe it has come up here and I've just never noticed it. I've literally never seen one used in other places but am 100% certain they would be used to a significant level in TV.

I do like a lot of those. I'll 2nd your motion on Tim Horton's. I didn't put that on my list since there are Dunkin' Donuts I'll just wish for more of them. I don't believe there are any Tim Horton's in the south. DD is a close second to Tim's!!!

And I saw another one I was remiss at including..Chipotle. Actually I'm surprised there aren't any there. However, I think McDonalds has pulled way back on their expansion with them.

Whole Foods and Wegmans. And an Italian deli.

This is my first visit to TV. I can't believe there is no indoor pool.

Did you know, Israel has free WI-FI throughout the entire country. Seems to me TV is smaller than Israel and could provide the same service. Many small US cities and towns are going in the same direction. TV could be a trend setter in this area; it would certainly be another good selling point.

Outback Steakhouse has free electric cart charging at their restaurant on Hwy 441.

Funny story but true - Last year, Mrs. Buggy had not checked our cart for power level before taking it to Colony. It was not even 1/3 full and she ran out of power on the way home. She was able to get to our mail station in Glenbrook and it stopped completely out of power. Mrs. Buggy called me; I took the charger and a long extension cord and went there and plugged in the cart and Mrs. Buggy took the car home.

After several people had asked me what happened and why was I charging at the mail station, I said to one lady that it was cheaper to use the Villages electricity rather than my own. She believed me and really got upset at me using free electricity. I 'fessed up and she laughed. After about 45 minutes, I was charged enough to get the cart home.

These are great. What I like best about this post is that it's mostly about enhancing lifestyle and provided upgrades in service. Most of these ideas aren't about buying more stuff but creating a better Villages. Nice stuff.......nice stuff......

There are thousands of musicians here in the Villages. You have to drive all the way to Ocala or Orlando to get to a good music store. I'm kind of surprised that with the Villages population exceeding that of Ocala and Leesburg combined that someone wouldn't open a good music store here.

Funny, now that you mention it. Ocala has Guitar Center, Sound Exchange and Parramore. All pretty good. The Villages has, well, noting like that. Go figure.
