Buffalo Ridge Emergency Service is a godsend. It's located north of CR 466.

There is a 24 hour facility in Leesburg, but information I received from a friend is that you had better have very deep pockets. Their charges are similiar to going to the Villages' Emergency room:grumpy:.

There is one next to the paddock mall in ocala they open at 5pm stay open all night until 7 in the morning.it is operated by the university of florida at gainsville. the ocala number is 352 -512-0886. the gainsville number is 352-392-2235.very good place to take your animals.

Belleview Veterinary Hospital in Belleview has an emergency service. Their regular service is excellent and very reasonable. Haven't had to use the emergency so I can't speak about the cost.

Buffalo Ridge Emergency Clinic saved my dog's life this past wk-end.. she ingested one of my prescription meds.. we immediately took her to the Clinic . We had notified them we were coming in with a sick dog & Doctors were waiting at the door for us .. Millie , our dog got the best care , plus, we as the doggies' humans were treating with great compassion. They encouraged us to call for status - which they answered on first or second ring with immediate info. We are so grateful to have our little dog back , even if she is still a crazy dog.
If we had tried to take her a further distance for treatment, she never would have survived.

Up north, our vet of close to 30 years, at one time use to come to the house.
(Just like our family doctor who came to the house - boy does that date me!)
Anyway - the vet retired and the new vets, nice as they are, did not have emergency hours. The closest emergency vet was 3 counties over. Pets have emergencies just like us "old" folks and I did not want to travel very far to get to the vet quickly. The one time we traveled the 3 counties and over an hour for the emergency, was my overreaction when one of my mastiffs had something- I thought - in his eye.

This is another vote for Buffalo Ridge.

We had an older - almost 18 years - cat that we knew had just about used up her 9 lives. She died last month, in the evening. We called Buffalo Ridge, they told us to come right over and were very nice. We arranged for her remains and about a week later she was returned to us in a very nice wooden box, like we had arranged.

If you live South of CR 466A, then Leesburg may be the closest Vet for you.

If you live closer to CR 466, then The Animal Emergency Clinic at Buffalo Ridge is the closest Emergency Vet.

I've used both Buffalo Emergency Vet and Leesburg Emergency Vet Clinic. Both are good. Both are expensive.
