View Full Version : GPS and Golf Carts?
I wannabe in TV

Having gotten incredibly lost driving my golf cart last January even with map in hand (and by the way, thanks to the many kind folks who pulled over to help us - and some who even escorted us!) I now have what may be a crazy question. Can I use my GPS on "walking" mode to navigate myself through the tunnels so I arrive for tee times without being frazzled? We're heading down to TV in two weeks for a 2 1/2 month stay (one month just wasn't enough last year!) and I am determined to demystify those golf path labyrinths. Of course, there are worse places in the world to be lost...like in the 16" mound of snow that promises to collect outside my NH door by this afternoon!
Thanks in advance for any guidance.

I have a Garmin 2555LMT GPS with the latest maps loaded on it and it consistently is more confused here in TV than I am. Although I have been here for 4 years and know my way around, my wife and I laugh sometimes at the suggested routes it wants us to take to get to our villa in Pennecamp.
I have used it a couple of times when exploring a new village such as going to see the Christmas displays, but basically I just used it to check the max. speed of my golf cart.
When you get here, start by exploring places and golf courses near you and then expand your circle. The Villages is pretty easy to navigate around once you become familiar with some of the main cart path routes. :)

If you have a smartphone with access to googlemaps, you can take advantage of the work done by a TOTV user memason.
Set the maps view view to "Bike paths" and you will see all of the golf cart trails including tunnels....
