After 8 1/2 yrs. of renting out our home in Sunset Pte. Jan-March, we are now full-timers, for 6 months anyway. I have tried going to "open" Mahjongg in a couple Rec. Ctrs., to no avail. All the tables seem to be set already with 4 players. Is anyone out there new to the Villages and who does not want to go thru the embarassment of going to a Rec. Ctr. room full of MJ tables, and not being invited to play? I have a small table in my home, and will gladly buy a MJ set at Marion Market. My preference would be Wednesday night, but I am flexible. I am not competitive at all, just looking for a friendly game and to meet new people.

I would love to and if we can find others I would be willing to host at my house as well. Maybe a rotation of sorts? I live in Piedmont and am flexible with evenings. My email is mrscrimefighter@msn.com

Would love to join up. My old group faded away. I can't offer my home but I can certainly offer a Mah Jongg set.

I would be interested. I live in Pinellas...I am new to the game, but already enjoy it! Would you all mind giving me some "reminders" as I continue to learn how to play? I can also offer my home if someone brings a set until I buy one!!!:clap2:

My group fell apart so I am willing. I have a set. I am going to have surgery next Wednesday so I will not be ready to go for a few weeks. If I fit into someones plans I would love to be included.

There are two of us that would like to play. We took a class in learning how to play Mah Jongg at the Lifelong Learning College just this fall so we are beginners. Contact us at diane.carr@comcast.net or caharrold@gmail.com. We would be glad to host, too, and have a set.

Please keep me in the loop!!! Some of your Villages are close to mine in Pinellas!! I also don't mind driving a longer distance!!! It seems like we all have the same idea about a group we'd like to be part of. Me email address is mentoj@aol.com or you can pm me on here....My phone number is 352 561 4025. Thanks, Julie

I'm just learning too. I started by attending the beginner group which meets at Big Cypress on Wednesdays from 9:00-12:00. Sandy gives lessons at a table. Then when you feel comfortable playing she places you at a table with someone willing to help. I'm also going to take lessons at the Villages Life Long Learning but the January one is already full. The next one is April.
If any of you would like to meet at Big Cypress, Wednesdays at 9:00. I can get there earlier and get a table for us. The times that I have gone, there were some tables still available. it would be just another way we could meet especially if someone wants to work with Sandy to learn how to play. I went through her lessons twice. :-) See my contact information above. Julie

I'm only here for January but would love to play as much as possible. I have a set and can host. I have an extremely friendly dog, however, and this would not work for someone with pet allergies. If we have 6 or more, does anyone have a card table?

I have a card table and a Mah Jongg ste. Possibly everyone could IM me with there availability, and contact info. It sounds as if we could form several groups. I would be willing to begin organizing it. After my surgery on Wednesday I will be sitting around a lot anyway.

There is a beginners class at Bradenton Rec Center weekly. An instructor teaches those who want to learn how to play. You must buy the card (available at the Purple Pig in LSL).

I hope there is still room for me when I move down in a few months. I have my own set and can't wait to learn. The place I currently live was supposed to give lessons (here) and after I signed up no one called me so I guess I will have to wait til I come down to learn. I have a great idea- all my TOTV friends can learn and teach me when I come! :o)

To those who responded--and I truly do not know how many at this point---we are playing at my house, 1662 Latta Court, Sunset Pointe, 6:30pm tonight. If there are too many, we can certainly set up in my dining room as well, so someone bring another set. And we can all work something out from there. Thanks, everyone, for responding to this. AND, I am not saying that all the Rec Ctrs. treat "newbies" the same but judging by the reception I got at Miona and last week at Colony Cottage I'll be happy to play at my own(or someone else's) home. And also make some new friends.

If anyone is still interested in joining a group, please email me off this website. It's easier to communicate that way for me. I play with a very nice group. We are 4, but I am leaving to go back North (until October). I know the other 3 would love to continue playing, and it's a wonderful group.
