Default Mortgage Payoff

After paying off the mortgage and getting the paperwork from the mortgage stating the loan was satisfied and paid in full, how do you proceed to get the original deed? If not the original the a certified copy with a raised seal so you have a document stating you own the home free and clear.

If it's the same as in Massachusetts the holder of the loan (bank/loan co.) will file it with the Registry of Deeds and the new deed will be mailed to you. It takes a while to be processed.
