Default 2014 Yamaha delay starting

Just started intermittently delaying 2 or 3 seconds before motor starting when I hit gas. Not every time. Runs perfect when it does start so I'm pretty sure it is electrical. Suspect solenoid or possibly battery. Any way to troubleshoot without changing everything?
Thanks in Advance

Yamahas have an ignition "kill switch", activated by the acclerator pedal, that sometimes goes bad. It is located under the floor board near the pedal. That's the first thing I'd check.

Ours went bad. I took it apart, cleaned the contacts, and stretched the internal spring a little bit so it makes stronger contact. That fixed the problem. A new switch is pretty expensive.

It’s the battery, being a 2014 it’s probably the original one.
