Default HELP ..Identity Theft

Identity Theft…..in need of suggestions for a lawyer that can help us. Yes we have contacted the necessary agencies to freeze our credit. Contacted law enforcement …received a receipt from our local DMV from turning in our sold vehicle & the receipt has the scumbags address being leesburg with my husbands name & NOTHING can be done to rectify.. we need an attorney.

OP, I have no experience in this area, so I would start with the phonebook, yellow pages, or an Internet search for Identity Theft attorney. A friend had a similar experience, and the police were of NO help to him either, and neither was the bank, both pointed to the other to get assistance.

If you have used an attorney, maybe estate planning, I would call and ask for suggestions.

Check with your homeowners insurance company. Many of them have ID theft coverage provided in the policy or as an endorsement. It helps cover attorney fees etc.

I had an employee who had his identity stolen and he and his wife went through absolute he11, trying to get it straightened out.

Not to be discouraging, but this was almost 8 years ago and problems still crop up for them. Good luck in finding an attorney who can help, as I agree that would be the way to go - as soon as possible.
