Default Need a Simple Will and legal docs completed.

My son is requesting information on preparing a will, and completing some legal documents. Any suggestions on who is the best here in the Villages & surrounding area?

Our will was quite simple and I used Quicken Willmaker and had it witnessed and notarized. For $50, it's educational to prepare your own draft, even if you then choose to get a "real attorney".

If you are a resident of Florida a trust instead of a will seems to be the best direction. Saves your heirs and your estate money and time.

She performed our legal work, and is very highly respected, though she just changed office locations from TV to Leesburg, she has done alot in TV

Millhorn & Shanaway on 441 by Billy's Restaurant. Mr Millhorn took care of our needs, very fair and did not try to sell you anything more than what you need.

Go the inexpensive online route if there's not a lot of assets to consider

We had simple wills created when we first became Floridians 7 years ago....$250 each...attorney actually came to the house, but that was down in Ft Lauderdale

just had a local elder law attorney redo the wills....OMG the stack of paper is a full quarter inch thick, with the health proxy, POA and living will it's a full 1/2 inch (printed one sided)...he's thrown every possible thing in that will...90% of which is garbage boilerplate and will NEVER EVER be anything that my heirs have to deal with...total overkill. At least it was a fixed price.

we had trusts in the past...paid about $12K...then every other year another $3-4K because his lawyer buddies changed the tax laws in our state...so we had to have him adjust the trust so that it would be enforceable ....

they run a nice scam

At least Jessie James had a horse and a gun!

We had Amy Pittman do our wills, POA, health care directives, etc. Ours is a rather simple estate, so a trust would be a waste of money. She suggested, since our estate is small, that we set up all accounts either with beneficiaries where appropriate or as Pay On Death or Transfer On Death accounts. The disposal of our home can easily be dealt with.

Andrew lives in the Villages and works as an attorney, he created a trust for us. The cost is $495 for a couple (maybe for a single). He advertises in the Daily Sun and possibly even on this site. He gives a free seminar quite often in the Villages as well.

As others have mentioned, in FL you really want to have a trust.
