I am interested in dropping my cable and having an antenna installed. What types do you have and what price range are we talking?

Default Xfinity Streamng on Roku

Tom...

I recently had a chance to see one of your Roku/Xfinity Live TV streaming setups and came home and setup same on a seldom used TV. It works well, although a little clunky in finding and switching channels. But, hey, no equipment fees to Comcast, so, well worth it.

Question....this Roku/Xfinity is a free "Beta" test..any idea how long the beta will last? Once Beta is over, any crystal ball on whether it will continue to be free to xfinity customers or will there be a charge? I saw some internet postings saying it might cost $7/month, which isn't much less than a more versatile desktop box at $10 from Comcast.

Before I or anyone else invests any more in Roku solutions for "extra" TVs, just want to be sure it'll be a good longer term investment.

Thanks.

It's in beta to test as a stand alone product that will soon compete nationwide with Sling TV, Direct TV Now and the others. I can't see them charging Xfinity cable TV subscribers for use of the app but you never know. It is slow and clunky but that's the current state of internet streaming skinny bundles. It's not a cable box but it's free. I've had it setup in my garage for months. Works great for that application but I wouldn't use it in my living room

Tom... thanks for the prompt reply. I agree, I would not use it on my primary TV since it is clunky. It will be interesting to see if it remains free for customers. I might be able to get rid of one "extra/floating" STB.

You recently did a Comcast quote/plan for my sister and she said there would be no equipment rental fees. That concerned me that she would only have the Roku/streaming solution. She's not a big TV watcher, so, maybe that will work for her. I had thought that any Comcast bundle, even a minimal one, would include at least one Comcast box.
