You are not MEMBERS of the Country Club. That makes you a "resident guest" and you pay "Resident Guest" fees. If you were a member of the Country Club (which is an additional fee, since the Country Clubs are -not- amenities), you would've paid less.

Village residents pay the “resident member” amount not the “resident guest” amount. Resident guest is someone that lives outside the tri-county area that is a guest of a villager.

I’ve played the Monarch @ Royal Highlands several times. The course is on US 27 about six miles south of Leesburg. I like the course and it’s always been in excellent condition. It’s challenging but relative short (6010 yards black tees and 5520 white tees and 4800 forward tees) Just right for an aging senior! As I remember, with cart, $45 in season and half price in summer. It’s been two years since playing so prices can change.

I don’t understand why this is so difficult to understand? Maybe for someone that doesn’t golf?
To add…..no one is a country club member.

There’s “Enhancement Member” and “Resident Member”.
If you have a green ID card, you are one of those two.

So - I was incorrect about the terminology. I was also incorrect about which fee he was charged. He and his friend were charged the "Enhancement Guest/Middletown Member" fee of $59.00 each (which comes to $118 total, round up to the $120 he claims they paid), plus the golf cart fee.

Why was he charged that? No idea. It was up to the OP to check. It was his responsibility to speak up and say "Hey - I am being overcharged, I'm a Villages Resident, this is my ID, and I should've been charged $54.50 as a "Resident Member" instead of the $59.00.

He might have done that and just not mentioned it in this thread. Or he might have not done that.

Regardless, he was not charged as a Resident Member.

Guess it's just illustrative of the old "all the traffic will bare ?" The only time things (might ?) change is if the "traffic" slows so drastically that it hits the old profit bottom line; then (perhaps) the prices will drop to increase the customer base ?

Rainger99 07-16-2024 03:18 PM

There are five different prices for every course.

EM = Enhancement Member
RM = Resident Member
EG/MM = Enhancement Guest / Middleton Member
RG = Resident Guest
NR = Non-Resident

The price for Shallow Creek is

EM = Enhancement Member $44.50
RM = Resident Member $54.50
EG/MM = Enhancement Guest / Middleton Member $59.00
RG = Resident Guest $65.50
NR = Non-Resident $68.50

The prices do not include sales tax.

Because the OP wants to show everyone what an idiot he is for not checking prices out before going.

If he doesn’t want to play there anymore, who cares besides him and the other whiners. It’ll just open spots for us that like playing there.

It was free for residents that lived north of 44 due to the inability to get across 44 with a cart at the time.

I can drive my golf cart about 3 minutes from our home and play 18 holes after 3 PM at Tierra Del Sol for $22 this time of the year. And the layout at Tierra blows away either of those two courses.

You are comparing the evening rate at Tierra Del Sol to the morning rate at Shallow creek. The evening rate at SC is $25 ($3 higher).

So much for being gouged.

I didn't "determine" anything. I guessed. Words have meanings.

And no I didn't guess based on a friend or two. None of my friends play golf. My neighbors all have their own golf carts and I live in walking distance to the nearest country club. I see the CC rental carts come down here, I've seen a few of them at Spanish Springs in the parking lots. I've seen people drive them off the CC course at Mallory Hill and drive up Odell, I saw one on the MMP near Brownwood. I've seen golfers using the rental carts to drive to the pool, from the course at Lopez, and park their golf cart there while they have pool-side lunch. That holds up that cart, making it unavailable for the cart guys to clean (and gas up, if necessary) for the next renter.

Considering that I see at least one every week somewhere OTHER than the country club golf course - I GUESSED that this might be the reason why rental fees are high here.

It’s possible some of those carts you are seeing, and assuming are from the golf course, are actually loaners or rentals from Villages Golf Cars. They look identical.

Wrong… having a villages ID means Resident member, paying extra for a membership is Enhanced membership. Being a guest (guest ID) is a Resident Guest. Morning wave at Shallow Creek and Southern Oaks is $54.40 plus tax for a RM… approx $60. EM is $44.50 plus tax.

I play a muni in Colorado and the rates are $88 on the weekend rain or shine or show or sleet or hail… 12 months out of the year. TV is a bargain. Plus you can bring your own adult and non adultbeverages… where else in the country can you do that???

Did you not look at the PDF.... resident MEMBER. If you own a home in TV you are a resident MEMBER. Heck, enjoy it. I know people who belong to a lot of country clubs up north and they are all different - there is not like a specific definition or anything....

The course is in nice shape, pretty wide open and overall pretty easy. But I won't be going back. We could have played Mission Inn El Campeon for $30 less...

If someone is willing to drive 40 mins from LSL to Mission Inn, than they might as well have just drove their cart from LSL to Shallow Creek as that's roughly the same amount of time, plus saving the hassle of not transporting clubs in and out of the trunk of the car twice.

Chitty Chatty bridge opened late 2020 and Water Lilly early 2021. SO opened late 2021 so golf cart access to the course was never an issue. However, they did offer free carts at the executive courses south of the turnpike until the Water Lilly bridge opened (and perhaps they still do?).

Do some people actually prefer to use a golf course cart over their own? I prefer the comfort, speed and convenience of using my own cart.

If the choice is to play a course like El Campeon instead of a TV course?

It's easily worth the hassle to use the clubs carts.

Comparing TV golf courses to El Campeon, is like comparing a McD's 1/4 pounder, to a NY Sirloin.

Slight correction/clearification to above; Executives south of turnpike never offered free golf carts. There was a reduced price on rental carts just like every where in the villages at that time, but never free. The free carts were only on the championship courses for people living south of turnpike which went away when connectivity was established.

TV loves it when they don't need the expense of providing you with an included cart with your greens fees. At the rates they charge compared to area courses, they should give you a discount if you bring your own cart.

I don't agree. We rarely fail to get a tee time. And, unlike in the north, the courses are all in good condition.

More courses are months away from opening. I wonder what people who make the "lack of golf" claim will move on to.
