Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Bare,
I will do my best to inspire you but now that I have lost a few pounds everything is sagging and hanging more then ever. I sort of expected this but its really not a pretty sight. Now I will need Lipo suction or plastic surgery to cut off the blubber that is sagging! I may have to gain it back to fill it out again. ::) |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Bright, I enjoyed reading your post about you and your grandkids. You are all very lucky to have each other.
Keep posting so we will know about their antics, and how you are surviving. That is when you dry off your glasses. ;D Perhaps we should have a party - Sadie Mae meets Brights Grandkids - who outlast who and who does the most amount of damage. Enjoy them. They grow up so fast. HB |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Hi all. We are still here in N.J. We just re-listed the house and are finally getting the State, the Township and the builder to get things done. After we lost our second contract things began to happen. Unfortunately sales have really slowed. We think we will come down in October and stay until March. We will leave the key with the realtor and see what happens. I (we) can't wait much longer to be in TV. This is worse than "waterboarding". I'm happy to see (read) everyone is okay and some lucky folks are are getting their chance to start their new life in TV. I was just looking at the Guess The TOTV Star's page and brought back fond memories of what seems like a hundred years ago. Will keep you all posted; you are in our thoughts....Johnny

Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Johnny and Barbara, I am so sorry to hear that the 2nd contract fell through. You do know that the third time is a charm? I look forward to meeting you both. Get down here in October and relax. No worries, October will be here in no time, no time at all!!!

Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Many thanks RR, that is the plan. We can't wait to kick up our heels with you and Rocky at LSL. BTW I dug up St. Joe, cleaned him off and proudly perched him in our curio cabinet for all to see. He more than did his job. Two sales, not just one. It wasn't his fault there were extenuating circumstances. Burying St. Joseph works!!!

If you do a short-term rental, would advise you close the deal with a stringent lease and deposit, for your protection. Hope things work out for you soon. I recently sold a beautiful condo in NH and dropped the selling price $40K less than the selling price, to get a quick sale. It sold within the week. That was just at the start of this RE slump. Timing is everything, huh? Everyone in TOTV is rooting for you. We hope to return to TV sometime in the Fall and look forward to seeing you there. Best of luck to you.....Barb |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Thanks Barb, renting would be an option next year. Barbara is a little skiddish on the idea. She heard a couple of horror stories. We know the good Lord has a reason for what's going on and we really feel he will come through for us in the near future. Thanks for the kind words, hope to see everyone sooner rather than later....Johnny

Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Johnny and Barb - what a shame that it happened again. You are truly on a roller coaster with this sale. We are still here in NJ too with only one offer (way too low) and a lease to buy that wasn't a good deal according to our attorney - so here we sit. There must be a plan for us that we aren't having any luck. I hope by the winter we are able to join you in TV. Good luck.

Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Discouraged is an understatement!
Went to try on new clothes yesterday and found out I wasant doing as good as I thought! Could it have been my imagination that I was losing weight. OMG, those dressing room mirrors !!! Well, for the record I only went down half a dress size , Beady, I think I will purchase a new wardrobe of caftans. |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Wow! Nonie! A whole dress size! Congrats darlin'. :clap2: I'm still trying to go down a tent size! :o
Johnny and Barb, I'm going to get Sam (Samantha) to wiggle her nose for you. She's the good witch of the Villages. (or did I spell that wrong. :dontknow:) 1rnfl Just teasing Sammie, my dear friend! ;D |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Chels, I wish it was a whole dress size. Unfortunately it was just 1/2 a dress size. argggggg!
|
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Chels, every little bit helps. This has been such a good lesson for me to never take anything for granted. Moving into TV is not a right of passage, but rather a privilege that one must work for to receive its fruited rewards. I don't know what I just said but it sounded great....Tks, Johnny
Congrat's Nonie! |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Nonie, why on earth are you discouraged? :dontknow:
You've been on a diet for only one week and have gone down 1/2 dress size! That is awesome. That equals two dress sizes every month. :o You'll be a size 2 by cruise time for sure. :clap2: |

Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
I went out to lunch today with a neighbor who lives 2 doors down from me. I would see her walk her dog every day and we would greet each other politely. It wasn't until earlier this summer when I really took time to chat with her and found her delightful. She tailored the bargain dress I found for an upcoming wedding I'll be attending. Anyway, I took her to lunch and had not only an enjoyable burger (YUM) but wonderful conversation.
Amy Newsom is in the process of staining my concrete now. Not only do I enjoy Amy's personality but the job she is doing is superb. The smell of the stain is a little strong but a cheap way to get a high! No, not really...I am just joking! NOT! 1rnfl |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Send her my way, Bright. You know, when we find good contractors, we should hook them up with TOTV. I can't think of a better place for their advertising dollars.

Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
I've seen a couple of people complain about some of us posting to much and thinking we "own" TOTV. It surprises me to read such thoughts. Everyone has the privilege of posting as often as they desire. Initially I watched from the sidelines until I got the courage to post.
There was no going back from there. This forum is only interesting because people post. If the top posters stopped posting, there wouldn't be that much to read. You can count on Tal to bring up a range of continuing topics. Muncle, Hancle and Fumar are the resident sages. Growwwwwwwwwling Chels has the spiritedness of a team of wild horses. The girl says what she means and means what she says. Barefoot, Bright,Gracie, Nonie, Susan, Kathie and Ronda crack us up with their great senses of humor and love for humanity. V07, Barb, VK, BTK and others offer unique insights into government and I value their opinions. Russ Boston, F16, and Steve from NY offer us some great informative posts. Donna showers us with happiness and fairy dust. Johnny makes us all beautiful. I could go on all day. What a group. I am honored to live among you and call many of you friend. If you haven't been to Crispers, you should go just to see Village Kid's smile and bask in the warmth of her personality. Red will always lend a hand. Hyacinth and Sid will tell us where to go and are just lovely.(That's travel, you all) Wow, there are so many of you....and many I failed to mention and I love all your posts. Please never stop posting and brightening all our days. For those that think we post to often, well, I'm sorry about that. We're not gonna stop. We love TOTV!! |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Well said, Sam.
I was one of the early members of TOTV. In those first months, Jan (Talk Host, Admin) was the most prolific poster, often initiating controversial topics just to get people talking. Seems like many days there were no more than 10-20 posts...only took 5 minutes to digest a day's worth of posts. Now, the volume, breadth, quality, and variety of topics, posts and yes, personalities, is incredible. Embrace and appreciate the value you get from the posts you enjoy and don't let the persons or topics you disagree with get your goat .... that's my motto. TOTV is populated by a great bunch of people and getting better all the time. |

SAM, Deb, WOW GREAT POST!! You should be authoring books of inspiration, dramatic love stories, inspiring adventures, or you can just continue to bring so much friendship, wisdom and love to us here at TOTV. WE LOVE YOU SAM!!!!!

Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
I love you back,RR. When are you going to teach me the electric slide???
|
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
I haven't been on in about one week due to travel, weather, lack of sleep and internet not working in two hotels.
I was not aware that anyone said anything about how many times people post - I agree with what Sam wrote 100% I also look forward to reading the post and learning what is new in everyones life. Thank you for putting is so well. Forgot how when I first became a member of TOTV I was very wary of all of you. I would not divulge any info about myself, after all l was afraid to. Read to many horror stories about internet chat groups, etc. Down the road from us a person was found dead - internet romance. Just added another reason to be wary of all of you. I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happpppppppppppppppppppy I got past all of that. Here people have business meetings at 6:30 am UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH. Now that is the pits. HB |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Nonie Congratulations,
From centuries of dieting going down 1/2 dress size means you lost 10 pounds. I probably gained that 1/2 dress size here. HB |

When I started, there were fewer choices of times to attend. I recall my neighbor and I would attend the 8:30 AM (yikes!! zzzzz) class at the Savannah. I often thought that how could I ever conceive this moment as becoming a reality? Line dancing at 8:30 AM, NEVER!! Wrong!! They now have afternoon and evening classes, I believe, and don't get discouraged if, at first, you find it awkward. Go with the determination to stick with it and guaranteed you will enjoy the jovial crowd. barb |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Barb, if I did that people would be laughing like crazy. I have two left feet when it comes to dancing...line dancing that is.
|
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Sam I thought I had the two left feet I guess I have the two right feet, :dontknow: then to add to my woes I get my left and right mixed up and the final problem is I can not recall more than the first 4 or so steps.
So you can picture me in a line dance with two right feet, going the wrong way and then getting hopelessly lost after the fourth step. What I do in situations like that is 1rnfl 1rnfl 1rnfl 1rnfl laughing at myself. I give all of you permission to 1rnfl 1rnfl 1rnfl 1rnfl with me. We did take ballroom dancing and fortunately Sid knows not only his left from his right but has one of each and remembers all the steps. All I have to do is follow. What a man he is. lovehorse lovehorse lovehorse HB |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Deb....Some may be laughing at you and all the while you will be laughing at many more that also have two-left feet.

Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Sammy, that was a beautiful post about the contribution "frequent posters" make to TOTV. You are a very special person and dear to many hearts. Life would be very dull without the group of TOTV addicts. 024
Sammy, I have a request since you started this topic. I wouldn't even have thought of this, except I am currently on dial-up internet service here in the boonies at a cottage in Canada. And perhaps there are others in the same boat. There have been 907 posts on this thread and it takes forever to access threads like this that have had many replies. Could you possibly start a Chatters Talk, Part 2, so we can all still chatter away, but it will be far easier for those of us on dial-up to access. Thanks so much! |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Hyacinth and Barb, you are to kind. Thanks. I still think I'll ask Ronda to show me some moves. That child has rhythm!!
Bare, will they let us do that? Can we call it "Bare Chat"? Or "Bare's Dial Up lifeline" |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Hey Sam I just read your dynamic post. I've been too busy making everyone beautiful. Thanks so much for including me in such a great group of TOTV'ers. It made my day!!! Johnny
|
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Beautiful post about the TOTV'ers Sammie. And let me personally thank you for calling me a horse! :o lovehorse
YES! I love all (well most) of the TOTV'ers. When I worked in advertising I used to love being part of the creative team. I used to think I'll never find those kind of creative, funny, spicy, brilliant, irreverent, quick-minded people again. And for years, I didn't. I found them here. On TOTV. And add to that list warm-hearted and caring. (Advertising is not known for these two attributes) ((((((((((((group hug)))))))))) And to the admins. I don't do this often. So get ready. For all you do . . . this one's for you! purrrrrrrrrrrrr :-* |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Chels, you are a hoot!!
Johnny and Barb, we rented out our Mallory house and the renters were all wonderful. All of them were immaculate. One even washed the windows. How wonderful is that??? We have been able to meet some of the nicest people through renting out that property. A lovely British couple are in the house now and they are delightful. You can be really picky about your renters. Let them know up front that you expect them to keep it immaculate. When both parties understand each other, mistakes become less frequent. The couples that rented from us were great and most will be returning to the home this year. The others bought a home here in TV. |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Thanks Sam. We decided to wait one year before any decisions about renting. If we don't sell by September we will stay in TV from October through who knows when. We will leave the key with our realtor. During our last stay in June we bought all new furniture at Lifestyles (they are great) so we can live in Hadley without much else. I will get us there one way or another!

Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Sam,
We are fixing up our patio villa to rent, hopefully starting by Dec. 1. Maybe you can give me some tips. I REALLY need em.... I'm looking forward to this rental process tho and also hope to meet some nice people... Also loved your post about frequent posters. I feel like I know most of the frequent posters, tho I've never met most of them.. And JohnnyM,,, I'll be sending positive thoughts your way that the third time will be charm! Our NC house is supposed to close on Mon., but I am afraid to count my chickens before they hatch. So will wait til the $ is in my hand before I spend it. I CAN"T IMAGINE the stress you guys must be going thru... But I believe when something doesn't happen when and how I want it to, there's a reason. And it always works out for the best. And I believe it will for you guys too... |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Mint I thank you and I can also say that something did happen to keep us here. God knew what he was doing. We just couldn't understand why God gave us the ability and desire to buy in March but not allow us to move there since. We lost two contracts it seems for a very good reason. One day I hope I can explain. Also on the plus side the township came last week and completed all repairs required by the State and tomorrow is our final inspection. Things are coming together again. Like I was telling Sam, we are still coming in October, either way....we wish you all the luck on Monday for your closing!
|
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Hi Johnny and Barbara,
You two have certainly been through a lot just to be with all of us, believe me it is definitely worth it. I believe things do not happen in our time but in God's time - and one of my favorite sayings is - God grant me patience and :edit: it I want it now. That saying fits me to a "T", I am not known to have patience when I want something. Wish you the best. I imagine since you had buyers twice getting another buyer hopefully will be a matter of time. Sending you and F16, Mik and everyone else prayers to sell your homes quickly. HB |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Thanks HB. Hope to see you in the fall!
|
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Hyacinth, you make me laugh. Johnny, hurry up and get there. Mint, I have names (renters) for you.
