Rocky and the Rollers were great, as usual. Wish you all could have been at LSL tonight.

Chat Anyone??? right now?...

Off TOPIC :cop: Is anyone interested in a daytime chat?? I am going into chat and staying until 11 or so. If you have a moment, stop in. The sun is shining and I am trying to do a little computer work, but was wondering what everyone is up to during the day. Some golf, some relax, some swim, go out for lunch, feed the birds? Now ON TOPIC :cop: ROCKY and ROLLERS... It was a great time indeed! Sam, I think you and your grand are having such a great time together!! She sure is a doll, full of personality! You are making such wonderful memories! Everyone is so nice and we do have a great time!

Ronda, we're going to make more memories by taking her to Busch Gardens in 90+ degree heat. What a Grandparent won't do!!! If I survive, I hope to see you soon.

Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad

Three more days and my husband and I will no longer hear that sweet little voice saying"Grammy...Grammy..Grammy.." or "Granddad" for much of the day. It has been a wonderful three weeks but Gram is ready to go out and play with all the big people again.
It's funny, but as dear and good as grands can be, it is sort of tiring keeping them entertained for three weeks. As I write this, I know that three weeks after she has left, I will feel bereft. I will miss her so much. I will finally get over it and then I'll head north to see her and repeat the cycle. The love you feel for a grandchild never ceases to amaze me . It is a wonderful thing. You look into their faces and see expressions that their parent made as a child. It takes you back in time. I love being a "Gram".

I was sorry to see that today 10 people were hit by lightning in NJ and many lost their lives in rip currents off NY and NJ. Horrible.

Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad

Wow!!!!!! The lightning is amazing today. It seems to be striking very close with huge rolling thunder. The storms here are something to behold. The rain is coming down so hard that I can scarcely see the lake. What a shame that we can't harness all that energy.

I wonder what would happen if everyone is TV put up the money for a wind farm and we had our own electric co-op. We sure seem to get plenty of wind. It would be interesting to explore how much power we would need, what we needed to produce it, historical wind data, how much it would cost, cost per home, etc. Anyone have any thoughts? I know there are lots of engineers out there.

We have the high power line towers, why not have turbines on top?? I always wondered why we haven't harvested all the natural power available and studied these powers more. Good point Sam!!

:agree: with all of you. However, I think we should be promoting not only wind power but solar power, too.

Not sure if many of you are familiar with Germany and its energy policy. Read this Wikipedia article...very interesting. If Germany can do it, why can't we? Makes you wonder, doesn't it, about our government?

Good idea, Sam. I just returned from a weekend in Palm Springs. They have hundreds of the wind turbines in the windiest parts of the desert area just below the mountains in the foothills. Don't know how they work but they sure are incredible to see. I've often wanted to interview some of the engineers in their power company to find out how beneficial they are to the desert cities. Never have, and now that I'm moving to Florida, doubt I ever will.

Here's a link showing a picture of some of the turbines. This picture is a few years old and there are many, many more than this now.

As I prepare the sad task of organizing my departure (in 2 short weeks) from The Villages on my trek northward to Michigan for my last year of teaching before retirement next June...please let me say...

I thank God for the friendships I have heartfully been blessed to establish, the extended families I have been most graciously welcomed into, and for the opportunities to form new bonds among TOTVers.

And, I can't neglect to say....Vetman....can you hear me? 1rnfl

It's been a wonderful summer voyage here in The Villages...
