Default Special event for byzantine catholics in the area of the villages happening this satu

On Saturday, January 11, the newly formed Byzantine Catholic Community in the area of The Villages will celebrate the Baptism of Our Lord and Revealing of the Trinity (Mark 1:9-11). A Divine Liturgy, (traditional worship service) will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of St. Mark the Evangelist R.C. Church, 7081 SE HWY 42, Summerfield, FL, water will be blessed and there will be anointing (Mirovanja).
For a blossoming Community, it is a special blessing to have Bishop Kurt Burnett of the Byzantine Catholic Eparchy (Diocese) of Passaic celebrate the Divine Liturgy and liturgical traditions along with Fr. Olexiy Nebesnyk (originally from Ukraine).
In The Villages and surrounding communities, there are many residents who have been raised in the Byzantine Catholic faith. They have left family and their home churches to move here. These good people have a deep desire to connect with fellow Byzantine Catholics to worship and celebrate the faith traditions of their life. And how joyful we are when we find each other. The churches are typically smaller, more personal, inclusive and very supportive. It is a living, loving faith following the teachings of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Although Catholic in name and in union with Rome, the Byzantine Catholic Church dates to early Christian times and is akin to the Orthodox Churches rooted in the rich liturgical traditions of the East.
All Byzantine Catholics and all who are interested in the ancient faith of the Christian Church are invited to attend the Divine Liturgy and join in the luncheon following at the Glenview Country Club in The Villages. For reservations for the luncheon or to talk about the Byzantine Church, please text or phone Dr. Barbara at: 352-530-9631 or John at: 570-604-9069.
