What no D&D?

Played a lot of board games as a kid in the 70s... those I don't recognize. Must be before my time.

Do you recommend any of these game as more appropriate for a beginner?

Also, are any of these available as an an app on an iPhone? It would be neat to just know a little bit about the game before coming as a beginner to the group.
