Smile Long Island Club

Hi everyone, I just wanted to know how the first meeting of the Long Island Club went? I am hoping the meeting went well, we can't wait to join. We are still on LI, our estimated time of arrival is mid to end of September! Can't wait to meet fellow Long Island Villagers! :

We couldn't make the new night either - we would have loved to have gone. Hopefully someone will let us know if there will be a meeting in September.

there weren't that many of us but we still enjoyed it!! Diane is going to try to get rec center for us. We gave her some tips on how NOT book it the same night as the NYS club because a lot of us in NYS are from L.I.

a little difficult to talk and get to know each other but overall we enjoyed it and Diane did a great job !!

Tracy - when is the NYS club? We would like to go to that.
Diane - thank you so much for organizing this - hopefully we will be able to attend the next meeting.

Thanks for the kind thoughts Tracy. It was a bit loud last night and we were fighting against a storm but all in all, I enjoyed the evening. I found out last night that not that many people seem to read info here on TOTV so the rec center newspaper seems to be the best vehicle to advertise our next meeting. I will get to work later today on getting us a home and drumming up more Long Islanders. I'm so glad to have met some fellow Long Islanders last night. Can't wait to meet more.

I went to Evans Prairie and they knew nothing about a Long Island meeting. The Parrot Heads just broke up. Would love to go to the next meeting. You can add this as a club then more people would find it to. When and where is the next meeting?

Not sure when exactly the next get together will be but I'm shooting for mid/late September at (hopefully) a rec center so we can hear ourselves think. All suggestions gratefully accepted.

I think with the weather, change in dates for about 24 LI'ers to show up is great.

It should grow in attendance.

tks Diane for all your effort

Ps: Tom can't you get a neighbor to get in your house and find those emails?

Thanks for the moral support. I too think that the turnout on a bad night was good. "If you invite them, they will come" - LOL.

dianem - for what it's worth, you might want to consider trying to meet at one of the small bldgs like fish hawk or truman north of 466a since it would be somewhat closer to villagers in that area and for those living across 441/27. while a facility south of 466a is convenient for new residents - i can tell ya that it is a long way from the original villages in a golf cart and it seems even further in a golf cart in the dark. that might prevent some from attending.

Thank you for your thoughts. I may not have a choice in rec centers. My understanding is that the "powers that be" make the decision for you.

Not really. When I booked Sterling Heights all I needed was advance notice. They will show you dates that are available. Pick one and it ill be reserves.
