LOONIES AND TOONIES CLUB - First Meeting of the New Season

The Canadian Loonies and Toonies first meeting of the 2016-2017 season [our 7th year] is on Wednesday November 9, 2016 in La Hacienda Recreation Centre, (Carmen Miranda Room), 1900 Avenida Centrale in The Villages.

The registration desks will be open at 5:30 p.m. If you have a name badge, please wear it. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.
Our first meeting will be a "SOCIAL MIXER EVENT". We are hoping that not only will you reconnect with Canadian friends but that you will also meet new snowbirds from within the area where you reside in The Villages, or even from your actual village.

We ask that you all bring an appetizer, dessert, or snack (hot or cold) to share with others. Additional tables will be set up in front of the stage to display all the goodies. BYO Beverages and please wear your name badges.

Our favorite musician - Mike Palma will be on hand to entertain us and get us up dancing the night away ... (well ... until we have to leave at 9:00 p.m.)


UPCOMING EVENTS

If you are going to miss this weeks meeting and want to sign up for Canadian Snowbird Extravaganza, Hockey Game, or Blue Jays Baseball Game - please email us at our email address: looniesandtoonies@gmail.com. We will add your name to the sign up.

JANUARY - We are looking at making a return bus trip to the Canadian Snowbird Extravaganza on Wednesday, January 25th, 2017. We will have signup sheets, starting at our first meeting, to see if there is enough interest. Cost will be $20 per person to cover return bus expense.

FEBRUARY - This year we have been able to book tickets to the Ottawa Senators vs Tampa Bay Lightning Game on February 27th, 2017.* We will begin signups at our first meeting - unfortunately The Lightning will no longer supply us with the Team Bus to pick us up and bring us back so we have to pay for our own bus which will bring the price of the game and return transportation up to $ 80.00 per ticket. In lieu of the loss of their bus we are trying to arrange that the Lightning throw in a few extras; i.e. the Zamboni ride, like we had last year, for some lucky people.

MARCH - Our annual golf tournament and bunco tournament is on our agenda for this year for March 13, 2017. Sign up will begin at our December Christmas Party meeting with the arrival of our Chair - Heather Gordon.

APRIL - A Toronto Blue Jays regular league game is in the works the evening of Thursday April 6 , 2017 vs the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. Sign up will begin at our first meeting as we have to make a deposit this year to reserve the bus and a private box area that we have enjoyed the past few years.

SHARING OUR GOOD FORTUNE

Please bring non expired, nonperishable food items as we continue to support the "Wildwood Food Pantry".

Also, if you have any used clothing or household goods that you would like us to donate to "The Blessings and Treasures" program, please bring those as well. This program supports needy people living in outlying areas of The Villages.
