Default Villagers can take a ride on a Segway and help mobility-challenged veteran

If you’ve ever wanted to ride a Segway, now is your chance.

That’s because the Segway Riders Club of The Villages is preparing to host its bi-annual Segway Experience at the SeaBreeze Recreation Center. The event will be held Monday, Nov. 11 from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and no experience is required to participate.

Tickets for 30-minute rides area available at The Villages Box Office. The cost is $30 and it includes safety and riding instruction, followed by a ride on local neighborhood streets. Check the box office for specific ride times available throughout the event. Some tickets also may be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Funds raised at the event will be used to purchase a Segway for a local disabled veteran to provide him/her greater mobility and freedom. The club partners with Chapter 150 of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), who select the veteran that receives the Segway and additional funds raised at the event.

For more information, contact President Ken Redding at (774) 287-0152 or ken_redding@hotmail.com.
