there is a newbie group on Thursday at Fish Hawk. Most rec centers list what type of players. Just go and you will learn a lot by playing with others.

I have learned this about Mah Jong.

Serious, adept, skillful, long playing ladies who play Mah Jong do NOT welcome beginners.

NO. Nada. Never. Don't try.

Get over it. Go somewhere else. Take a hike. Fageddabout it.

I never could get the hang of it.

Gracie is right, serious mahjongg players like to play hard and fast ... No funning around. But there are lots of us who play mahjongg for the social aspect. I think it is way more fun that way. I've been playing for five years, but I've never progressed past basic and I don't want to. If you take it too seriously, it's work, not fun.

However, before you play with a group, you need to learn basic skills and the best teacher IMHO is Joan DiCarlo who teaches around noon ... She is at Laurel Manor on Tuesdays and Chula Vista on Sunday.

Gracie, maybe you need to try it again. You used to spend all your time feeding us instead of playing! If you teach me Golf, I'll teach you Mahjongg.

Unfortunately Joan has had to "retire" Sadly her husband is too ill for her to leave him.
