Default Poker League

Looking for players interested in joining a No Limit Texas Hold-Em/Omaha Poker League.

Format will be twice a month (day of week to be decided but am considering Thursday evenings 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm) with one night being No Limit Texas Hold-Em and the second night being No Limit Omaha.

(3) four month seasons for the league (January - April, May - August, September - December), with points awarded for top 10 finishers each week.

$22.00 buy-in each week, $20.00 goes to the weekly winnings and $2.00 goes into a pot for top 3 players at end of each season.

Depending on number of players will determine play site. If I get enough interest I will seek a recreation center for play and will try for one located between CR 466 and CR 466a. Otherwise if interest is limited, play will be in my home with max two tables.

If interested email Jim at:

villagespokerleague@gmail.com

Please leave your email information and name and I will set up a mailing list for all interested parties.

Shuffle up and deal!

You may want to check the Facilities Guidelines at Village Community Development Districts , rules about gambling.

Smile Enough

It appears The Villages has enough Poker Games going on. Actually you could play Texas Hold'em about twice a day and be at different games. As far as Florida Laws I believe it is safe to say every game meets the Florida Laws for Gambling.

I do not really play poker, never was very good at it. Yes, I have seen comments about poker games, which I figured were for fun, no money involved, with the exception of Oxford Downs on route 301. Good luck with your quest.

Thumbs up Controls

I believe the Texas Hold'em games meet the Florida Laws as some have looked closely at them to ensure they are within the boundry of Florida laws. These reviews have been done mostly with Attorney's who play Texas Hold'em. As I understand it all money collected is returned to the players and no games require/have dues. There seems to be someone kicking up this dust about every 2-3 years while Bridge, Bunko, Marjohn, etc are ignored. There are hundreds of Residents who play Texas Hold'em and enjoy the companionship, this includes a number of Doctors, Lawyers, retired significant company CEO's, etc. We are lucky to have some residents who volunteer to run the games and do so for no return but the satisfaction of knowing they are helping others to enjoy their lives and in a number of cases their retirement.

I'm new to the area & am looking to find a friendly home game I could join. I play NL hold'em and PLO (Pot Limit Omaha) but am willing to learn & play other games. In the casino-based card rooms I usually play 1/3 & 2/5, but I'll play lower stakes, basically just interested in having fun & sharing some laughs. Please send me a PM (private message) if there are any home games in the area that are open to new players. FYI I'm not a village resident, so I can't play poker at any of the games played in Village rec centers.
