My wife and I would be interested when we get to TV. We generally prefer the semi-sweet wines as opposed to the dry wines, but are game to try any wine.

I agree that it is wonderful to find a good wine at a good price. I have some great wines but have a hard time opening an expensive bottle just cause I'm in the mood for a glass. That's one of the problems with going to wine tastings at a store...they always serve 10 wines...by the time I get to the ninth or tenth...heck, it's the best wine I ever tasted!! I call my wine collection 9 and 10..all purchased right after the tasting. Problem is, later I'm not sure what it tasted like. Oh well, it's fun anyway. Can't wait to get to TV and meet all of my fellow winos...err...oenophiles... (somehow sounds so much more refined)

Too many people found about about 2 buck chuck. It now costs about $8 around here in Toledo!

Besides, I can't wait to meet Trish; and it's a fabulous group of TOTVers who've signed on, most of whom I haven't met and would love too...

This is the first I have seen of wine tasting events since reading the forum. This makes me want to move to the villages even more. I can't wait to be there and enjoying wine with friends.

Wine has always been my drink of choice and yes Trish I do remember the days of Ripple and Boonefarms. We've come a long way baby!

PTurner, Where can one find a nice, inexpensive red Zin here? My fav's are old vines from the Lodi region.

You can actually build a wine cellar just about anywhere. In VA I have an actual cellar so I built it in the cellar. You install a cooling unit that maintains a temperature of 57 degrees with 50% humidity. You have to insulate and have vapor barriers to maintain that climate controlled storage. My current cellar holds up to 1200 bottles and is about 2/3 full.

In TV I am looking at several options. I have an alcove in the garage that would accommodate about a 500 bottle custom built cellar. However I am concerned that the heat in the summer and cold in the winter might cause the unit to over work to maintain proper control. Another option is in the home there is space going from the kitchen to the master bedroom to place a 400 bottle pre-built unit or to custom build one in the space.

Red Zinfandel is one of our favorite wines. Some really good ones are Rafanelli, Clinker Brick Old Ghost, Brazin (only $12 from Liquorama), Starry Night, and several others from both the Russian River and Lodi areas. Amador county also makes some good ones.

I am the daughter of someone who could tell which side of the hill the grapes were grown and what season, country, valley and the corks manufacturer.

I tried for years to get the hang of it, but all I got when drinking wine was the idea I was interesting and intelligent and after three glasses I wanted to show off my old tap dancing routine.

I decided to stop drinking.

I now just watch and sip my lemonade. It works for me.

Yes Gracie, that first glass of wine or other drink goes right to this small spot in the brain called judgement and paralyzes it. And the second one goes right to what ever other weak spot you have which from then on is in complete control. But I still really like wine even if I don't even know what country it was grown in, much less which side of the mountain. And you would always be welcome. As long as you didn't laugh to hard at us.
