Default Avast Free Anti-Virus

I have been happy for several years with Avast Free AV on on my desktop computer. I also do occasional scans with Malwarebytes. McAfee expires on my new laptop in a few days and I'm thinking about installing Avast on it.

AVG free, and Panda free, and Bitdefender free also seem to get good reviews. Does anybody think one of these, or something else, is superior to Avast free?

Thanks.

I think the built in Windows anti-virus program named Defender is a good product. I have 8.1 for now.

For mine and DW's Windows 7 computers, I like the Webroot Secure Anywhere Antivirus. Very automatic and NOT as bloated as some other products.
Not free, but not pricey either.

If you have multiple devices (PCs, tablets, cell phones), you can use Norton 360 Premier, 5 devices, costs about $70 per year, with support and updates. We use this on 3 android cellphones and 2 laptops, very satisfied.

When I recently got a new all-in-one desktop, the tech who set it up for me recommended Avast. I have no complaints!!
