Can not OPEN web pages
After doing a "search" with Google, a list of web pages appears. Under each main heading there is a web address. Everytime I try to access the web page by "clicking" on the main heading or the (www) address I get: "The site cannot be reached" Error 404 (Not Found)!!1 Server IP address cannot be found.
My browser is Chrome. I've tried turning off Proxy and flushing dns Any help will be appreciated. |

Typically, an Error 404 just means that the web page you are trying to access is not available. Can you get to any websites? Have you tried manually typing the address into the browser window? You can also try to change the security level setting on the browser. If it is on high security, change it to medium or medium high. Have you tried to use another browser?

Hate to state the obvious, but we all forget. Have you tried turning your computer off, and then back on again?

Also, turning the router off and on. Leave it off for 30 seconds, best to unplug it even and disconnect it from the input cable or what ever it is in your case.

After clearing the dns cache, can you get back to google to perform another search?
You were able to reach ToTV to post this question, was that from the same device that cannot reach other pages? Could be your system or router. Easiest thing to try, as already suggested above, is to reboot both. Possibly the DNS server at your ISP. Symptoms would be either no access to any pages, access only to pages owned by the ISP (comcast.net or verizon.net for example), or access to only the most heavily used pages, the ones the ISP would have cached, such as google. Possibly the Internet connectivity of the ISP. Symptoms would look similar to DNS problems at the ISP. Most troublesome but far less likely: Malware installed a routing table on your computer that sends all your traffic through a malicious path. Troubleshooting this would take more detailed knowledge of Windows than I have but it is also very unlikely that this is the problem.

If these were related pages, you may have reached a company site that no longer exists, in which case you are out of luck. You will need to try a different search and hopefully you will get to similar sites by different companies.

Sometimes it's your Internet is slow, you should also try running Windows defender to check viruses. The previous commenters also had some very good ideas

You may have a virus. I had something similar happen with Chrome. The virus inserts code into the browser which then loads those links.
I uninstalled the browser then had both of our laptops scanned and cleaned. |

Copy and paste a few of the page URLs you cannot reach. I mean the exact URLs, not like " I can't reach IBM" or some such. Let us test some of the URLs you're having issues with.

You ARE opening a web page!
If you are searching with Google then you are already opening a web page, since Google itself is a web page.

I had the following issue which I (and Motorola) seem to have fixed.
Config: laptop W11 All browsers Comcast ISP Motorola Modem Problem: I could only reach Google or Google websites such as Youtube. This issue was intermittent. Resolution: I changed the DNS settings (provided by Comcast) to: Primary 8.8.8.8 (Google) Secondary 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflarenet) in both windows and on my router/modem. So I am no longer using Comcast for DNS services. Before modifying the router setting, I did a factory reset on the router/modem. Also, before you do a factory reset on your Modem/router, make sure you know your SSIDs and passwords for your wireless. I've been OK for about 2 weeks now. Hope this helps |
