So we will become a customer of A T and T next year?

We have had Quantum for a few months and so far so good.

They might leave it as Quantum but just be owned by AT&T just as Lumen owns them now or they might re-brand it AT&T. No one is sure if and how they will re-brand the service so we will have to see.

sounds like the business model for circulating cash in the off shore banking carousel

Had century link for 5 years, 965m/b great service, no known outages. Price for life hasn't changed one penny

When this happens wonder if the $ 50 per month charge will go away?

CenturyLink is laying the Quantum fiber on our street. For those who are using Quantum fiber, what are your good or bad thoughts about its reliability and cost for internet only and internet plus TV?

A little off-topic but there are some other benefits to having a fast and dependable upload speeds. Others have mentioned things such as security camera and picture uploads. Absolutely true... don't forget about zoom calls and stuff like that as well.

The piece most people don't think about is that there is always an upload component to downloads. Even if you have a fast download speed, there is still frequent communication to verify the download is happening without errors. The faster the upload speed, the faster the download knows to continue and not wait for a response.

Quantum fiber or any fiber service is the best since the download and upload speeds are the same, $50/ month, no tax, no fees, all equipment included. Not a promotion so you lock in your price. The only thing is you will have to stream since they only provide internet and no TV service. When you’re ready reach out to me and I can help you get signed up and switch the streaming and set everything up for free if you like thanks, John. 914-419-9398

We were on Century Link for several years paying, as you stated $50.00 / month. When Quantum took over, the bill went to $80.00 / month. A few outages, but fairly good service.

You are correct traditionally download speed was only important but
Upload speed is more important these days for people with cameras. Unless you have a local server the camera uploads the video to a cloud server then back done to your device. With slow cable upload speeds sending a higher resolution video from a doorbell camera or security cameras works but is very slow. Also, if you backup your PC for
Example, that initial full backup and any other subsequent full backups will be very painful with slow upload speeds. Cable doesn’t offer the same upload and download speeds because the cable itself is limited so they use most of the bandwidth for download and a small amount for upload. Fiber doesn’t have this limitation.

Yes! I am experiencing this painful issue right now while uploading all of my photos/videos to Apple’s iCloud service so I can access everything on all of my Apple devices (MacBook Air, iPad Pro, iPhone 16 Pro). The very slow upload speed with Spectrum is sooo painful. I could’ve completed this project in days rather than months where we formerly lived because our fiber upload speed was 100+.

We have Spectrum internet in chitty chatty. Spectrum Raised doubled it to
$90 in less than 2 years and when I call they won’t offer any solution

I forgot about pictures. But the problem is cable's technology limitation will not change until they upgrade thier infrastructure here in the Villages like they have done in some areas up North where there is heavy competition. Maybe with Quantum expanding new fiber in the Villages it will create more competition for them.

Hate Xfinity

Yeah, my Xfinity bill jumped from $50 to $83 about two months ago and now I see it's going to $100.13 in September. I'm going up north for a week and when I get back I am definitely looking for options.

I am still ****ed at Xfinity who got me to switch to them three years ago offering $600 Visa cards that they never honored.

I left Xfinity over a year ago and went with Quantum Fiber. I get 500 mbps for $50 a month. It has been excellent. I'm currently streaming HBO Max at $10 a month. I occasionally stream the "free" Roku channel.
I am so much happier with Quantum.
