I was at Best Buy today, and they were out of stock for the half priced $25 Roku sticks, but you can order them online. I just ordered one from Amazon. $25 is an excellent price for the Model 3820R Roku stick.

Any other recommendations?

Since you have other working Firestick swap cable and cords to Hitachi if it works you had a bad Firestick there on sale Amazon pre Black Friday $19

Thinking about getting a Roku stick. Does Roku come with ads and if so, is there a simple way to disable? I have adblocker on my main computer that works great but my dumb smart TV throws short ads at me every 5 minutes that I have to click to close.

Wouldn't ads or no ads be a feature of the stream you are watching? I have an ad blocker on my computer but that only affects the browser, not the stream it is showing. Are you watching the same thing (Hulu, Netflix, Disney) on both your computer and your dumb smart TV?

If the TV really is interrupting a streaming app (Hulu, Netflix, Disney) to insert an ad then I would definitely get a Roku or firestick and avoid the "smart" features of that TV and I would keep that in mind when I purchased my next TV.

It doesn't show pop-up ads, if that is what you mean. If you watch free content, there may be commercials during the program, like any free TV shows. Amazon is selling the Roku Model 3820R for $25, which is half the normal price. A good deal for a streaming stick that has everything you could need in order to access almost any streaming service.

Not sure what you mean by "Check TV Input" but suspect you mean check where the TV is looking for the signal (antenna or HDMI or composite or ...). That was not forgotten, that was the intent of "check HDMI input."

batteries

Try new batteries in the remote

Keefelane66 11-16-2022 04:31 PM

The Firestick has 5 parts: power supply, stick, dongle, power cable and remote it shouldn’t be hard to trouble shoot since the OP has other working units.

Sounds like you need to set tv to correct hdmi port.

Thanks for recommendations. Switched out fire sticks from other TVs and one worked. But discovered that 2 out of our 3 fire sticks failed (one we had not used in a while so it may have failed a while ago and we did not realize it). So I ordered new fire stick. But these fire sticks were only 3 years old. Surprised they died that quickly. Caught a sale as noted by one of the TOTV posters, so thanks for heads up!
