Default Screen lock-up

I have windows XP and am starting to have screen lockup when I try to close a web page. Ctrl.Alt Delete works but I want to get this fixed. I have two programs that scan and repair problems but they don't fix this one. I have deleted cookies and files and also downloaded internet explorer again. This seems to help for a day or so, and then it starts again. Any suggestions.

I do not know the answer to your question, and I suggest you join the following computer organization in TV: JMAXPJP2@aol.com

They are very helpful with these sort of issues.

Bassman,

I have XP too, and have lots of problems with locking up..I called Tech support and was told there are too many programs running in the background..

I don't even think they have a clue how to fix this problem..The Villages Florida
I also had to add memory..

Do you have any email programs dowloaded, like Incredimail??? I had to remove that program on mine as it was part of the problem..The Villages Florida

Sorry I couldn't be more help..

I was having the same problem with Internet Explorer. I downloaded Firefox Browser. It has been working better without freezing.

Same problem with my XP - regularly freezes and I need to either restart or run network diagnostics. I've already followed the steps suggested by MSN help, which didn't improve the situation, so I'll try some of the above suggestions.
