Really? Just curious why that won’t work. You’re running a full copy of windows 7 in a virtual computer. Entire data centers are built on that technology running all kinds of software stacks.

Once compiled my program runs fine and the customers love it and could care less of the coding used. The problem is Microsoft -- stopping support for something they previously fully supported. Shame on them.

What are your customers going to do when you can no longer support the programs? Either from illness or death?

Installing vb6 on win11

This is an interesting thread. I bought a new win11 computer several months ago and used a special program to move all programs from old win10 computer to new win11 computer. I assumed vb6 moved and would work. I tested it and saw the same error you mentioned. Some googling I found a lot of info on how to install vb6 on win11. Some of the web pages are very complicated or run v6 in vm. The following link looks pretty easy and MIGHT work. I have not tested the steps...but Im gonna give it a go at some point when Im bored.

Visual Basic 6.0 Download for Windows 7/8/10/11 (32/64-bit)

goggle this for more ideas...
"visual basic 6 on win11"

Good luck
Bob

You can't compile VB6.0 on a win.11 OS. Win.11 is NOT backward compatible with VB, other than VB.net.

I have successfully loaded VB6 on the Windows 10 computer. Works fine. Let me know if you are still interested.

Virtualbox lets you create an entire virtual machine running whatever operating system on it you want. So you'd load up virtualbox, load a real genuine copy of windows 7 inside of the virtual machine within virtualbox, then load vb or whatever else on top of that genuine real copy of windows 7 running in a virtual machine on top of your windows 10 or 11 machine. Problem solved,.
