wait on Windows 9. This does seem to be another 'vista' moment for Microsoft. Hopefully they make it to 9.

I purchased a laptop with windows 7 and the store had given me an option to purchase windows 8 at a huge discount. Four of four geek guys told me to nix Windows 8. I went back to the store three weeks later and saw three people in line returning their laptops with windows 8. I spoke to one guy and he said I have a life other than using a computer and to hi it was so complicaed that he found himself spending hours on it.

It would seem that as time goes by software ought to be easier and easier and not harder and harder. Suddenly sharpening my encil or re-filling my ballpoint pen doesn't seem so bad. Hmmmm

All you have to do to make Windows 8 act like 7 is, click on the desktop tile. That will bring you to a windows 7 type desktop with the "Start/menu" button missing. Go to lee-soft.com and download and install their free "ViStart" program. Now you will have a Start button just like Win7 has.

Face facts, Windows 8 is not going away and it is the way things will be in the future if we like it or not. At some point in time everything will be migrated over to the new style of O/S. Microsoft or third party companies may provide programs that will give Windows 8 users the look or feel of Windows 7 but 8 will still be there.

If you are having troubles with 8 why not give TV Computer Club a try? There are devoting a lot of time and effort into the subject of Windows 8 and it would be worth your while to look into it. The learning curve for even those folks has been rough but they are willing to help anyone and will pass along their experiences to help you and others to get use to Windows 8.

Also you can create a duel boot and have both 7 and 8 on the same computer. Minimum requirements are at least 20 gig of hard drive space available. Check out his site for full details on how to do it.

Note that you are doing a totally new install so things like your Favorites and IE settings will not be carried over. Same goes for installed programs.
