Default AC recommendations

Our AC seems to be on its last legs (died 2 times in the last 2 weeks, capacitor replaced, fan replaced). Recommendations for a good company would be helpful. We are using Sunshine and are very happy with their service, but want to get multiple quotes before buying a new system. Thanks!

I'm watching, 19 year old unit still plugging along... Fall/winter is a good time to get it done!

Default M & S airconditioning

They installed a split unit in our lanai and have performed a number of tasks for us.
They are on time, reliable, and wonderfully polite.

We use Hilliard's. We had our AC replaced 2 years ago and have been very happy with their service. They may not be the cheapest but, I feel, they are one of the best.

I would recommend Munns and M&S Air. Have had great experiences with both of them.

OP, how old is your existing system, it should last at least 15 years. If the capacitor was the one that starts the fan, the 2 failures may have been related, so with both replaced you may be good for several years.

i agree with the VillageTinker! but Getting estimates is always a good idea... you can weed out the good from the bad.

If I were buying a new system, I would probably buy a Carrier system from Munn's. They seem to be more equipped than other contractors to take care of repairs, especially on weekends. I would get 3 quotes, but, as long as Munn's was reasonably competitive, I would go with them. I know there are some very good small companies, but I would be concerned that they may not be as responsive if the system fails during the warranty period. An HVAC system typically comes with a 10 year warranty. When your HVAC fails, you want it repaired immediately.

If I were shopping for a new system I would at least include Munns (who we have a service contract with) and Kalos. I've heard very good things about Kalos in several threads.

Normal parts that eventually fail. One probably caused the other to fail.
