Default Adding a Golf Cart garage - contractor recommendation

Moved in ~15 months ago and the ***ONLY*** regret I have about our home (which is a 2/2) is that it has a 1 1/2 car garage. I am unable to fit my GC along with my car - a SUV - in the garage due to the fact the GC has full size "real" doors and can't open if they are both in. (NO, I don't plan on selling the GC because I like A/C, heat wipers etc etc etc - it's my little TESLA and I consider it a 2nd car because it just about is )
I'd like more garage space anyway.

Has anyone done this and can you recommend a builder that actually did work for you? I'd like to get a couple estimates.

I don't plan on selling the house OR the GC.

I don't blame you one bit. Stick with it and work it out. Someone on here will spin your head with a great contractor. Hope everything works out well. I'm sure it will.

you may want to have it approved with the villages before you go to far. they have some odd rules in different areas and all building has to be approved. you could save yourself some grief. good luck

X-CEL Construction is the best. They built a golf cart garage on my Amarillo and it was the best thing I ever did. Call Paul White

Well aware of that (had driveway widened last summer and CONTRACTOR took care of it). Others have done it around here so there seems to be no big issue.

LOL, called them over a week ago. Lady (his wife I assume) unprofessionally answers the phone (I had to ask if this was X-Cell) and I tell her what I am interested in and she says "I'll see if we can do that" and I never hear back.

Have had a bunch of experiences like that. Seems people don't want to work.

T&D has an excellent rep, and 2 of my neighbors used them, BUT, they are very busy, several weeks for estimate, and then several weeks to work. We tried to use them on our birdcage project, but their schedule for the estimate was AFTER our requested in service date, did not use them for that reason only.

That's exactly why I'd prefer doing business with the"smaller" guys. Generally they are hungrier, more cooperative, give better service and may cost less. The spread of the 3 quotes I have received has been $18,000 !!!

Once again lot's of recommendations without any contact information.....

I highly recommend X Cel Construction .....Paul White ( Owner ) here is the contact information :

Paul White ( Owner ) Telephone 352 - 589 - 4440 ....... Cell 352 - 266 - 1102

We have used Paul twice both times very pleased with the end result, including adding a golf cart garage onto our Courtyard Villa .

Evidently they aren't interested in a $15-$20K job. Read my post (#9 in this thread) regarding my call to them. Fortunately I found others that were interested (and others as well who never even return calls). Waiting for final bids before I make a decision. Unfortunately I found we don't have enough property to add a GC garage due to the 5' restriction and have to go with expanding garage 4 feet.
