Default Additional Garage Pricing

We are looking at a 14x23 cinderblock garage addition to our corner courtyard villa. Nothing fancy. No major earth moving. Getting a quote for $260 sq/ft. Is that reasonable? Seems awfully high to us. Any input appreciated. Also - before anyone asks - we already have ARC approval. Thanks in advance.

So $83,000?

What were the other estimates?

That's crazy! Here's what I found on google for Central Florida.
2023 Cost to Build a Detached Garage - HomeAdvisorhttps://www.homeadvisor.com › ... › Garages
The average cost of building a detached garage is $40 to $70 per square foot.
There are a lot of businesses that try to upsell us Villagers. Keep shopping...

Sounds very high to me , we paid about that much for our house. Which I thought was crazy, since in 2017 we paid $125 a square for a custom built house in Ohio.

I had a 16 X 26 stick addition not finished garage added last year and it was $50,000.

Get a quote from Melton Construction. They are reasonable and do fantastic work. Always show up on time and Mr. Melton is on-site almost everyday to answer questions and make sure everything is done correctly.

Default Garage extention attatched

The only way to find out is to shop for your project.
You will need Plans, AAC approval, and a County permit.
Don't forget to check the Company out.
And get their Insurance papers. Once you receive the papers call and see if they are still active.

And it is true everyone in The Villages has deep pockets if you're a contractor.
Didn't your salesperson advise you on this?

For a project like that, you need a detailed plan and at least 3 competitive written quotes to ensure that each contractor is bidding on the same work.

Default It’s not that simple.

The $83K price is nuts. Still, it is a complex project. We paid $50 for a block, completely finished garage that was 11x18. Call Corban Construction, Paul Caruso, 352 267-2201.

I added a 350 sq ft garage 8 years ago for $40. It was Ann addition to the side and back of existing garage (block construction)
