Has anyone used Lenhart Electric to install a whole house surge protection ?
If so are you happy with the outcome ?
I noticed they have three diiferent surge protectors which one is the best for the money ?

If you have SECO for your electric company, contact them. It's cheaper to rent from them than it is to buy the protector. Besides, by renting from SECO and it fails, they replace it free of cost. We have it on our home. Our cost to rent is around $6 a month.

I got the Lenhart whole house surge protector
They have 3 types
Mine was the best one they offer, 275 275divided by $6.00, is 3 yrs 8 months of the SECo protector.

Peace of mind, not 100% but is like wearing your car seat belt, less chance of injury.

There is no peace of mind with a surge protecter. Lightning is our problem here, and they don't do much.

We had significant electrical damage from a nearby lightning strike last year. One of the first things that blew out was the SECO whole home surge protecter. They did replace it, and paid us $500 toward the appliances that were taken out. However, that $500 would have been covered by my homeowners insurance, so it was a wash. Plus, lightning through the water lines is what took out some of our appliances. For example, just the ice maker in the refer went out, all the rest of the electronics were good.

Lightning comes into the house any way it can. Water lines, cable lines, phone lines and electrical lines. There is no rhyme or reason to what you are going to lose. In our case, the claim was around $3,500.

Also, look at the fine print for all your surge suppressors. No protection against lightening.

I agree that very litttle in life is a gurantee. That being said-- we had a whole house surge protector installed in our LI home (townhouse). We had a lightning ground strike. We had no damage. ~The house with whom we share a had damage. They lost their TV, computer, stove, fridge and microwave.

A month later we also had a ground strike on our home in Tall Trees which also has a whole house surge protector. 2 circuit braker flipped ( easily reset) and no other damage. Our nextdoor neighbor ( without the sutrge protector) had his garage door openor and outside light destroyed)

Take it for what it's worth-- just don't live near us unprotected.
