Default Defective villa roof vent needs replacement

10 year old patio villa has a leak at the ridge vent, and my efforts at sealing the leaky area have failed. It is a cheap aluminum vent, probably with little room for a less than perfect installation. I want to replace it with a larger, shingled vent, properly installed. The roof itself is still fine.

If you have had this job done on your villa or house, I'd be glad to hear from you on who did it, the quality of the work and vent, and the cost. Thank you!

I also had a leak at the ridge vent. I called Batterbee. The man went up on roof and pulled out insulation that had gotten in there. He said that was the problem. So far so good.

Thanks ren and tuna. I did not see any insulation when I was working on the vent, but I confess I cannot figure out how insulation in a roof vent would cause a leak. I can see how it would reduce the venting.
